Consider the fact that everything near the exhaust ports of a rotary is ALWAYS subjected to high temps. With every passing of an apex seal there is a fresh combustion moving along with it. In a **** engine this happens every other TDC granted an equal period of time to "cool" a millionth of a degree and not be under 600 PSI of combustion force (in a 10.0 compression engine anyway).
Now should there be any fault in the cooling or lubricating system while all that is going on, it won't take long for there to be serious consequences. By contrast, I've had a V6 MX-6 run on drained oil for almost 3 days. If you drain a rotary's oil and run it with out filling it back up how long to you think it will last? Maybe 5 minutes. I'll be nice and give it 30 minutes.
Granted that is a very extreme situation to subject an engine to rotary's really are far more dependant on their tuning than piston engine. How often do you hear of overheated piston engines blowing head gaskets compared to how often an overheated rotary damaging cooling seals.
Being totally biased toward rotaries... IMO piston engines can take alot more abuse than rotaries but when properly maintained, cooled, lubricated, and tuned a rotary should outlast a comparable piston. But come on... who really has a properly maintained, properly cooled, properly libricated, and properly tuned 7 excepted immediately after a rebuild (and sometimes not even then).

I find it extremely funny that If I for whatever reason became available again... I realized I have NO skill with women anymore. My playa abilities are incredibly lame.
My "pickup line" for sex at this point is just taking my clothes off before I get in bed at night.
*sigh* I've fallen out of my prime.
At least I've always got that relationship thing covered. hehe.

But yeah, I can see what you mean about falling out of it... Then again, why would you ever want it back if things are that simple now?
