The guy I bought my first rx7 from lived (not sure if he's still there) on georgia avenue and used to own a body shop somewhere between there and baltimore. His name was John something. Havn't seen him since I bought the car. He had a blingin' lincoln navigator.

MD Inspectors are SERIOUS bullshit. The first place I went to was down in Bolley's Quarters, I'll get the full name so people can avoid it, but they made up a ton of bullshit that really pissed me off. Just a sample of it...

1) Window tint on the side and back windows, even though it was a legal tint shade
2) A mysterious "Emissions Hose" that never existed
3) Rack n Pinion Steering was "broken" and needed to be fully replaced (there was a LITTLE bit of fluid built up under the boot, just cleaned it off and it was fine!)

So yeah, some serious BS going on there.

not all are that bad...

besides, unless tint came from the factory, MOST inspectors will fail you for it...including the guys at my work(dealership service dept).

ANY tint is illegal in maryland ... unless it came from the factory that way its illegal ... dont let anyone fool you ... its illegal...it should say that at the bottom of your tint reciept..]

and you would be picky too if there was jailtime and a hefty fine attached to your signature being on an illegal car and you are found culpable

Corey...thanks for helping make my point more clear, as i was on the phone when i posted that.

i know that NO inspector wants jail time...and while it sucks that they're so strict on what they will or will not allow, there's a reason for the laws to be in place, i suppose.

hell...even lowering a car slightly will fail inspection.

The RULES for MD inspection are crap too.

Need OEM exhaust, need stock suspension dementions, no tint, and my ABSALUTE FAVORITE:

NO TAMPERING WITH ANY EMISSIONS CONTROL DEVICE (EMCD).

Yes, your ECU and everything connected to your ECU counts as an EMCD. Anything cat or before on your exhaust counts as EMCD. Your whole intake counts as an EMCD.

This, my friends, is total crap :O

Indeed... I fail because I have a cone filter? 0_O Or a outside mirror controll button being failed becase a miniscule piece of plastic broke off and slightly wedged itself so as not to let it work?? I came by after the test and plucked it out, and he STILL wouldn't pass me unless I paid again... WTF is that?

Tint is legal in maryland, you have to get a paper from the state police at the MVA saying that it is 35% or greater. I had to do it with the del sol!

We should do a song about that.

"From the Maryland Guys' newest Album 'RX-7Club,' we present 'Sad Naner and the FalnFenix'"

Also new:

"RX7Club sings: Beatles songs"
"Transformers Soundtrack: Reggae Version"
"AkumaKuruma Sings: All your Base, extended twelve hour remix"

i failed emissions and inspection on a car... went and got 500$ in tuning that in all actuality probably made emissions worse, showed them the reciept and got my 3 year waver on the lightning ... it was sweet

some shops will screw you if yer not there to watch and talk to them about it.
guy who passed my supra after pointing out REAL problems let me slide on a few things except my headlight switch which he was pushing as a safety issue which i can understand.
he also didnt even recheck my repairs...just signed off on the slip.

the same guy slammed tofuball with a second inspection fee when he took the GXL back to get the repairs inspected.

so its all up to how you deal with the shop as well as the general attitude of the shop.

At US 1 you have 30 days to get it re-inspected for free. And the inspection fee is only 45 dollars.
