DC Area thread - The District, NoVa, Maryland
Found a decent S5 Turbo in the area. So I couldn't pass it up. 75k all original. Two sets of rims with it. Body has hail damage and some dings, but motor feels strong and no smoke or leaks. Interior is in great shape. Driver seat has wear and it has the normal FC antenna and wiper issues, but that's about it. It was owned by someone up in Rockville, so I am surprised I haven't seen the car before.

i got it from a flipper. He got the car off the guy in Rockville, saying it didn't run. He says he put in a new fuel pump and wires and plugs. Which all looks to be true. The wheels he gave on the rims are winter tires. While the stock rims have brand brand new tire, like mold lines still not worn off. Down side is that he said the were flat spotted from sitting. I switched them out since rims are straight and held air. But damn did that car buck like crazy with them. Going to try tonight take them to a local tire shop and get them balanced. If not a set of new tires isn't the end of the world.
Rob - we are here. Go to top of NE RX7 Forum page, Spring Road Trip 2016 - we just did our semiannual drive 5/15 into VA and Skyline drive. Sadly with no microbrewery beer chasers this time around, but with great parking-lot-grill prepared brisket finish. Videos are there. Bill
Congratulations on the car Jack. How much do you think the flipper made on that FC? Wasn't aware that the profit margin from car flipping was worth it. "Couldn't pass it up" sounds like you got a nice deal. How many cars in the stable now? Are you in Rocky territory yet?
In other news, I'm waiting on my FD shifter rebuild kit from Ray. If you all didn't know, he can only ship now, no parts in hand. $18 flat rate. Kind of hurt since the kit only runs $25. Had to add some Mazda3 parts to it to lessen the pain.

There are lots of cars and coffee type events around the area where you'll bump into a few of us. A handful of guys participate in autocross events pretty regularly. I've been trying to get a group together for a track weekend for the better part of a decade. If there's an event you'll be at, post it up here so people can join in!

I think he made about 500 or so. Which isn't to bad. He said when he got and it had a bad fuel pump. I found an extra wiring harness in the back around the pump, so I think he had someone do something. The couldn't pass up was the bone stock with great interior. Everything is at the near new stage. The body has issues, hail damage and scratches. Which I think happened with the flipper. Rest of the car looks like it lived in garage it's whole life.
I am up to 5. 3 7's, one 8, and a work truck. Add the girlfriend's 2 and it always looks like I am having an event at the house. Which I think puts me at his level! Even though his is mainly old British cars.
The East Coast Rotary Classic yesterday had the most rotaries I have seen so far and was their 2nd year at Virginia Beach. A great alternative to the Deals Gap which is sooooo far away for this area.
Im from Virginia Beach but i missed it this year since im deployed....... More than likely i be there next year if anyone is looking to do a caravan. Right now im just seeing how much activity there will be in the area im moving too.

It's only 8-9 hrs. Really not that bad. It's a great event, I would highly recommend.
I'm going to wait a few years until the track gets a bit safer...
Edit: All the videos I have found are prior to being fully open to the public and show the concrete jersey walls. Have you seen any videos of the finished track?

From what I understand, SCCA and NASA postponed some of their spring events at Dominion because of the track's unsafe conditions. The latest email I got said that they were on-schedule to have all the safety requirements fixed by the time NASA's has their event there later this month.
I do want to try out the new track and TrackDaze is having an open track event there in August. I tend to avoid tracks in VA in August but I could be persuaded to go. TD open track events have no instruction and no classrooms and are open to solo drivers.

Inexperienced is a bitch, a costly one
Any SharePoint admins in the house?
My manager is looking for a SharePoint Administrator. I don't have much info on it, and will probably never know the salary range LOL The req has not come out yet, but I can post it as soon as it comes out.
Here's what I know:
* Secret clearance at a minimum
* VERY SMALL SharePoint environment (our last SP admin said that his SP lab at home was larger than the one on the contract LOL)
* You will be working on other MS Windows Server problems/tasks
* Pager/phone duties (answering help desk, and other tiers phone calls) are on a rotational basis (you are basically on call/phones for 1 week every other 6 weeks or so)
* Server patching is also on a rotational basis (you will patch all Microsoft systems once a month, every other 6 months or so)
This position is in Fairfax, by Fair Oaks mall, work hours are M-F 8 - 5 pm
PM me if you are interested
