Exclamation The future of RC3

Well, it's been nearly a year since I've "taken over" RC3 and sad to say that there's been lackluster support in the community. Other than a handfull of regulars, and you know who you are, the majority of 7 owners haven't really cared about anything. Getting enough people together for a track day is out of the question. Any input of ideas is worse than pulling teeth. And when things do happen, turnout is virtually non existant. Volunteering to help organize or run things isn't there either.

So I want to know what you all want. Should there even be a club anymore? Do you all just want to do your own thing, which is what you're all doing anyway? Or do you want to come together for a change and actually enjoy the car in some other way than "Hey, look what I drive?"

You tell me. We need to figure this out cause I'm not going to continue to do this alone. We're a huge city and no one gives a **** about anything, which to me is pathetic.

We need a site put together, which Bill and I are still working on. We need some enthusiasm to doing things. We need a little income to support things such as a site and any kind of event that you all want to do. We need some volunteers to help organize those things and take something off me.

Let me know. Else, RC3 will just die off.

seems to be the case in the midwest. There are 45 people on our Clubs mailing list and maybe 3 respond to group activities. (one drives a supra lol) We are mostly going to general sports car events now.

Wish I could help but the same thing is happening down here.

I've said for a while: Let 'er die.

The people that know each other already have each other's phone numbers (sorry I didn't call you back Christian...I was busy all weekend). And the people that we don't know, well... quite frankly there's a reason we don't know them. So when individuals want to plan something, let 'em post about it. If we're gonna go out for a cruise, we'll post it here and if other people want to show up, cool. The only person I've come to *expect* to show up is Ming.

The club would've been a great way for people to make some friends who share interests (I know I have!), but most people on here aren't prioritizing getting together with a bunch of car guys, and probably consider it just a novelty anyway. There's too many people (ie- more than one) putting in too much effort (ie- more than zero) to support a group of people who won't return on others' investment.

I would've loved to have done a track event, but having to know far in advance and getting a group of a minimum number would've just been impossible. We'd be better off just trying to piggyback on another car group's outting, as much as I hate to say it.

Let 'er die. Not worth it.

As much as I hate to say it, I will agree with Tom and say let 'er die. I'm thankful that I've met the guys that I talk to semi-regularly, but like Tom says if we want to meet up for lunch or go on a cruise, we all have each other's numbers.

I've meet a few of u guys. Meet wise, just swing by jgtca's thing. One of the reasons it was founded was because of low turn outs at car spec meets. I was trolling the old site, but after it went down i kinda just gave up. i would like to hang with more rotary guys, cuz i'm still pretty new to it, so swing by JGTCA. RC3 wise, i'd hate to see it die out, but i can see why u guys are leaning that way.
If we need another place to post, just swing by jgtca's site, and i'll put it in the Mazda section. I'm staff there now, so i can help out. I want to get involved with the 7 community, as soon as i get my 7 running.
later

Ssssh, Steve might be reading....

Back on topic before Christian bans me, I would like to keep RC3 going. I am willing to help out with anything. But we can't even figure out what other people want because the only onces responding are the regulars. I would like to hear from everyone else. Why don't you guys every come out to any meets or go cruising with the rest of us?

Do you want the club the Rotory Car Club of Chicago or just the FC Club of Chicago. If it is the latter, it will die. If it is the former, we must be more enthusiastic about inviting the 8's and it's future variants that the Mazda gods produce.
I am a former owner of 2 FB's and the present owner of an 8.

For those that are voting "what the hell is RC3" it is the Rotary Car Club of Chicago. Now that being said, rotary means all gens. As far as inviting the 8s, we have posted on the rx8 forums and the only 8 that shows up is you! So how do we get people to come out?
