that doesnt work, its like people burn out on going to meetings. Needs to be low cost (damn near free for these poor bastards) and once a month-2 months at MOST. Im thinkin something along the lines of during the summer catch like RSD (real street drags) and maybe nascar (dont burn me on that one, its just an idea) etc.. like that. and as far as winter goes, just do something at somebodys house when weather isnt horrible (not so much to bring out the cars but just catch up, have a few beers and possibly help out someone who is working on their winter project)

Thats cool. Gotta have much notice in advance though. Cuz I remember seeing a lot of poeple would be out of town, or was doing something on that day.

And other than myself and one other 7 owner, 0 showed.

Hate to say it, but sometimes you have to travel.

Looking at the results, I think it's a bit ironic. Those who typically show up say kill it and those who rarely do say keep it. Now you see my frustration and why this thread exists.

Kenny, you bet your *** I'm interested.

I agree the once a week thing sucks. I would have thought that with as many owners as we have, once a month would have worked and have some show one month and others show another. Guess that never happened either.

I don't feel like looking back to quote who said it, but in regards to the younger owners and track days. $200 is the typical tag, and there are a lot that won't pony up for somthing like that. It's not worth it to them I think. And as far as dragging goes, yeah, it's a lot cheaper, but I think you have a better chance to break something doing that than not. Just from experience and my own $.02.

Ming...I'd love to go to Japan. You buying? I was only in Okinawa when I was out that way, so I'd love to go to mainland.

I try to give as much advance notice as I can. But a lot of times, I don't see anyone respond so I don't know what the hell is going on. I hope that all of you spread the work to anyone who doesn't hit the forums. That's the only way. I would have thought that last years BBQ would have made enough of an impression to bring more out. We had an advocate in IA, but he recently sold his, so that's some "membership" lost. I think everyone's too independant. Plus, the general attitude I've seen floating around lately I don't think helps. I dunno...maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way.

I'll start brainstorming soon. Once this poll closes, I (and whomever will follow) will go from there.

I am relatively new to this board but have been around the import scene for 5 years now. I had one feature in Modified Magazine and a second scheduled for Honda Tuning (but unfortunately missed it twice for technical reasons). I am definitely not a import noob. My S2000 was sponsored by Mackin Industries, Stoptech, Nitrous Express, Toyo Tires, Vertical Doors, and Instyle Graphics. I am not an expert or trying to brag but this is my opinion from 20,000 feet being new to this board...so take it for what its worth.

I think the reason why our meets in WI are successful is....

1.) We are not car specific. It just needs to be a high end import. Civics and Cavaliers dont count.

2.) All the guys (and girls) we hang out with like cars and are into customizing our rides or racing. We have a common interest (cars) and get along. Everybody is pretty easy going.

3.) Our rules are pretty loose. Not everyone comes every week. Sometimes only 5-8 people show up. Sometimes 20-25 cars show up. No dues are needed. There are no meetings All you need is a cool import. There is no trial period or anything like that....if you fit in and get along with everyone your in and always welcome back.

4.) Everyone is not invited. If you are a "ricer" (and you know who you are) or a punk *** kid with a "Mr. T" starter kit you need not apply. This might sound harsh but too bad. I dont want some punks who dont know how to drive rear ending my car or causing trouble.

Why do I like getting together once a week? Because its an excuse to go for a drive and enjoy my car...

If there was a rotary meet I would like to go.

Just my .02

4. Sorry

3. We dont have a website. We are cheap. We use other peoples sites

2. Sorry again Seriously though we dont have many girls. Mostly its wives or girlfriends that tag along for the night.

1. You cant tell me that on a Thursday night in Schaumberg you cant find cars to hang out with? The scene in Chicago area is pretty good. I can tell you where to go to find other car enthusiasts on Thursdays...

I would really like to see some sick FD's. I hope there is a get together before winter. If you are looking for a meet WI is only an hour away...hint hint .

Way wrong crowd. Where else would you suggest? I'll base my next post on that. I have an idea where this is going.

There are plenty of sites that cater to everyone. This whole club is car specific, or at least power plat specific. Hence the name ROTARY Car Club of Chicago. Just like the S2000 guys have their thing and the Stang owners have theirs. There's nothing wrong with being an [for lack of a better term] exclusive club. There just happens to considerably be fewer of us, that's all.

I know what you mean about Schaumberg. I think I got your point. I dont like "Team GMCI" either. Here's the "crowd" I would hang around with on a Thursday night. That groups ranges in age from 18-60+. All are S2000 owners but a fun group that are car enthusiast in general.

I understand. Its just my opinion. I like alot of different cars. I would go to a rotary specific meet and I would also go to my Wednesday meets. Thats just me...

I just got myself logged onto this site, and it would be nice to have something local clubwise. I'm more into roadracing rather than drag racing, but nothing is ever going on up at Road America rotary oriented. I always have to go with the mustang guys or the Fbody club.

Maybe we could go as a club to meets like the guy's from WI where its just general cars, not a club but just a meet, but still represent RC3. There'd be more turn out?

Of course there'd be more turn out...there are other cars there. But what's to represent? No one ever shows up. That's the point. Anyone can go to some other gathering at their leisure.

It seems like Chicago has a lot of rotaries on this board. If people never show up its probably due to lack of interest. That really sucks. I would've thought this would be a tighter group.
