OHHH thats what RC3 means...!!!

Okay consider my vote changed from "What the hell..." to "I'll do everything I can.. " or like at least "I will show up....!" (yea i know that wasnt a choice)

anywhoo.. if you dont know who I am.. I was the one a couple BBQ's back (about a year ago) with the XL-1s videotaping a little bit (the one who totally couldnt keep up with you guys...!!)

Anywhoo.. I dumped the XL1s for an XL2 and if this RC^3 thing survives count me in for being at a meet or so to practice my cinematography skills yo!

(heh, XL-2 has better low light capabilities)

Dan

Ohh btw is there some mailing list i can get added to? 'Cause sometimes i forget to check the forum regularly, and miss out and whatnot.

*edit* wow.. two "anywhoo"s.. that is just plain incredible

I don't know what to vote, exactly.

I like *going* to the BBQ's at ASpec(or anywhere else for that matter, venue flexible), once a month/once in a while kind of things. But I doubt I'll *ever* make it to a lunch down town during the week kind of thing.

I'm definately not active enough to help run things.

I guess I'll vote : Keep it, and I'll attend(and watch).

He has spoken!!!! I couldn't agree more I think the once a month or weekly lunches is asking a bit much. There should be a spring thing to bring in summer, a fall thing to watch it leave. With a track event or two during the summer, be it bring the cars to the track or we all just go and watch a event.

well guys, ive been to my share of meets these last 2yrs or so and i dont think it should die. Its hard for me to come to the mini meets downtown too...especially if they are during the week. Any of the big planned weekend BBQ meets have seemed to turn out just fine. Maybe we should throw in a weekday night too to meet somewhere, like a thursday night by shaumburg as there is usually a pretty good turnout of lots of cars, plenty of parking and i always see at least 1-3 rotarys that just happen to be cruisin around.

I have tried my best as a sort of advertiser for the club by doing the videos from the meets to give newcomers a feel for what we do and stuff but i think that might be my limit. I dont have the power to arrange something like a track day or inviting everyone over to my lil crib for a get together.

..just my .02 cents

The mini meets downtown are for the "rich" "special" types. You have to be on of the privileged few.

Heres what it comes down to (and I speak from experience being the former president before I sold my last 7). Cost to colocate a server is 100 bux, or rent one for 40ish a month for webspace (which includes a spot u can host your own pics but no vids sorry). Me and christian are perfectly OK with splitting the 40 bux and not pass on the price to you guys or anything but lets look at the facts here.

We are the oldest rotary community in the area, I understand the 8s wanting their own "freedom" persay but lets be honest here, we have the faster cars :P. We need alot more support from the already existing 7 community and the newly developing 8 community. While I have a pain attending meets I still try to or make it atleast past a-spec once a month or so after work (since I work in lombard). I know everyones lives are busy but we try and plan this stuff 2+ months in advance, is it that hard to ask for the day off work or a half day or something being as this stuff happens on saturday or sundays?

We also really need to keep a list of everyones AIM, Yahoo, MSN (pick yer messenger service) handy as to be able to get ahold of people faster. Lets face it, we break down.

Sean needs to smile more. (you know u want to, i can see it in your eyes!)

I know the guys at a-spec are busy alot but they do go out of their way to help us with bbqs etc.. so lets not forget to pass on the thanks to them as well!

The downtown "mini" meets are basically just for people who work in the loop area, doesnt really make you a bad person if you dont go down there.

None of us want it to die but we need some more active participation out of you guys. Seriously, whats it take... 5 minutes of your day to check in the website and post a little or see what kind of stuff we want to make happen over the course of a few months? Stop bein slackers. I dont believe you all are, I mean after all.. you bought a car you KNOW youd have to work on constantly :P

People who work in the Loop are uber rich upity folk who wont tell you they hurt their feetsies during ballet class.

Maybe some of the other guys in the loop are uber rich. and in my defense, there are lots of hot women in ballet class

quick off topic comment: when are we doing another loop lunch?

During the cruise after your last BBQ, the 8 was not disappearing in our rearview mirrors. Before you say anything, you guys tuned my car. OOps, that was before the sock incident.........nevermind

Saying we tuned the car and that's why it's sloooooow is like saying I blame you for the taste of Chef boyardee. You didn't put the ingredients in there, you just warmed it up. Now your turn to go in the corner as well.

Difficult for me to come over from South Bend for mid-week events, but a couple times a year with some advanced notice I would enjoy driving up for the day. If it takes $25 or $35 a year so that we can keep a mailing list or web site I have no problem doing that. It’s great to get 20 RX’s on the road and see the looks for people and listen to the engines all running together.

Ok...the Loop thing has happened twice in as many years. I'm not expecting everyone to come it for that. The once a month things are more centralized and really just to get together and cruise or something to that effect. I can't set up any track event as I never get enough pre commitment to take the risk as that would be way too expensive. The two yearly things are a given, but this first one at the new A-Spec didn't have the turnout that I'd thought it would have compared to last year. And any questions I put out there I usually get only a handful of responses.

As far as what Bill said, he's right. Though the guy who runs the 8 club is enthusiastic about the merge, I only get about 3-4 responses from those guys as well, and it's only two that ever show up.

With the cost thing, the support is so spotty that I don't know if I can rely on consistant/enough income with the club to make some things worth while. Contrary to Sean, I'm just a peon at work (in the Loop) and certainly don't have $$ coming outta my ears. Else I'd have a 20b already.

We'll see what happens when this poll closes...then go from there.

Well, I hate it when debates like this come up, and I also hate it when in my ignorance I don't check the regional forums regularly to see them come up. There have been alot of events I've wanted to attend with RC3, but due to school it has been nearly impossible. Now that I'm gaditated from public skool, though, I'd be willing-and available-to help out in any way possible.

Note: I was there for the lunch on good friday in china town, just we never met up... Honest!

Another note: who would be willing to go to Road America next year in the summer for the Brian Redman International Challenge? No? How about if Mazda brings the RX-787b there? Right now I'm trying to work with Mazdaspeed to see if they'd be willing to bring it next year to run it in the "modern" group, which is restricted to modern (i.e. post 1980) cars that have racing history behind them (i.e. they won a race or championship in a major series, driven by a famous driver in a major series race, etc), and I think that the 787b fits the ticket well for that. Just a thought

Also, while I'm postwhoreing it up, why don't we start having semi-regular meets at various places in the area. I'm not talking like anything big, but rather just like a bbq at a state park or lunch at a popular resturant. You know, just a BSing session so we can all get to know each other better. If everyone is willing to donate a day or maybe even half a day to just hang out and kick around ideas, who knows what could happen...

That's what I've been trying to do. But again, I never get any response. I'm all for that though.

The turn out for the first meet was poor???? Man you suck! How you figure?
As for semi-regular meets they are what kills it I think. It's "oh lets just go meet up with the guys again." Bullshit about nothing and go home. No-one takes those serious enough to ever make them that big a concern. Ask me how I know......go on.... nevermind I will just tell you. They've always been that way. Since wayback. You need formal events. A track day as I stated does not have to mean track time. It could mean go watch a race. Etc. It would be more orginized and formal then Hooters parking lot. Youguys need to set up a schedule and work from there. I've been to other car club meets Viper, Ferrari, Vette. They have the year planned out and it is all announced come spring.

Older crowd back then. I think that has a lot to do with it. And none were as big as even the "cough" cough" lame one "cough" we had this year at the shop. Shame on you Christian.
