Thinkin bout buyin a LT10...advice?

I'm thinking about buying a LT10. Anyone have any advice? Or know were I can find good information on it's use on the rotary? I don't see a sticky with instructions like we have in the M.S. Forum. Thanks!!!!

What brought you to the LT10 over the vastly superior Megasquirt (since you mentioned the MS forum)?

well.... ive had my ms unit for about 4 years. Its a MS2 V3. Its wired, have communication. But the settings extremely confuse me. I followed the websites instructions. I had my MS built by T2GTUS frm the forum. Internal electronics arent my thing. I figure its best for to get a unit that I dont need to play with the internals. in addition, in North California, there is ZERO ms help, tuners ect. Ive got it to crank, & sputter but not start. The car is no where near stock, & im using a DIY harness. Im trying to drift the car & was told by Justin Pollak that the Haltech E8 is the only way to go. what do u think?

haltech is really good like microtech and the oders ones, but the thing is you need a good tuner near you and in NC is nobody to play with this ECUs I live over there for 8 month and I cant find some one al least you move to charlotte that the only place the you go to found a tuner.

The Haltech E8 is pretty old at this point. The new Haltech line would be the way to go. If all you need is basic engine control of a 13B, then the Sprint-RE is the cheapest Haltech option. Above that you have the Platinum Sport 1000.

Basically all options are vastly superior to the Microtech at this point. Remember, with the Microtech you can't save maps to disk, there is no closed loop, timing is a limited distributor model, you can't reconfigure I/O on your own, and interpolation in the main load table is rather poor.

Then again the Megasquirt has evolved as well. An MS3 with the MS3X card requires little electronics knowledge to put together, and TunerStudio has made the settings easier to understand.

Microtech is easy to install and more friendly user and they engineered for rotary. The majority of the fastest drag cars are equipped with microtech so why complicate it...

Yes, fast drag cars, which only need to operate at wide open throttle and where things like mileage and smooth operation is not a concern, are using Microtech.

I'm not saying it's a bad ECU, but the fact is that for the money, there are FAR BETTER ECUs out there with vastly superior feature sets. And, due to upgraded software and better datalogging, along with assistants like autotune, they are faster and easier to tune as well.

I would recommened the LT-10 for any rotary application. I drive my car to school and work every single day without a problem. The only fuel consumption problem you may have is your right foot. On the highway I get about 24mpg and in the city about 16mpg.

The mileage is about 6 - 10 MPG lower than vehicles I have tuned with standalone EMSs that support closed loop. Plus those other ECUs support shocking things like idle valves. Saving maps to disc is always nice when tuning, as are the advanced log analysis features available on other ECUs.

If you want a computer that works then you can use the lt10s

If you want a computer that makes the car awesome and drives well and has good power/economy, get a haltech... or a power fc.... or a motec.

The lack of technical support is making me hate my LT10S right now... Almost making me want to go drop a V8 in it and start over completely.

Wiring diagrams they send you are all wrong...
They sent me back a broken ECU after being in customs hold for 6 months...

I'd say its up to you and your tuner. If your tuner can tune the hell out of a microtech go for it!!
