Good article on improving braking

I know, I know, it's a Saturn site... but their cars are kinda similar to ours. 'Bout the same weight, brakes 'bout the same size, less of a "slap some bolt-ons on the car and go" mentality in the owners...

I was wondering how long it would take you to turn to the dark side at your new job, hehe

The only words you need to know about improving braking on an FB are the following words:

Hawk HP+.

It's actually too easy to lock up now, it'll make you want even better tires.

I've seen them saturn guys tweak some good numbers from thier blocks, so 200 should be no problem from the V6
But i'd never be able to figure out what to do with 2 more sparkplug wires. hehe

Which is pretty much the whole point... better brakes are meaningless if they're already able to lock up. That was the second thing I discovered when I first tried DOT-R's... suddenly I can brake hard enough to make my neck hurt! Go 80-90mph, apply the brakes with both feet... WHOOOOOMPH. And I still have stock brakes and "unknown" pads.

(The first thing I discovered is that I now had to go really really fast to skitter around corners, like 25mph rated on-ramps at 75-80mph... Also not as fun as my Goodyear bagels, but hey, if you want to chase down 911's on the track you need good rubber. Surprisingly, the tires would go off before the brakes did! Maybe it was because of my throwing the car around and skittering thru corners... )

As for the OT-ness... nearly bought an SL2 in '96, if I did that I'd have just finished paying it off and I'd never have had my, uh, menagerie of cars. So, really, I've been into "those cars" long before I got into RX-7's. Or Subies for that matter, but at least I've had a couple samples of both...
