Help Install Lt8

Ok Im having hard time finding a good writeup. Seen some problems with OMP and stuff liek that so I want to know everythign im going to need to do and what i can elliminate and all taht.

87 T2

Motor is at ressurection right now with this build:
13b street port
All emmisions removed
PowerS and AC Stay

So I rip the old ECU and just the harness on the passanger side, or both sides except for the battery termincal wires??

Oil metering system not to fluent how that works. Shoudl I go premix for ease?? Or if I leave it hooked up stock do i have to hook that up to the ecu somehow??

Need an overall install guide for my car

nobodies every installed a Microtech huh?

I have not done mine yet...but go to the microtech website and download the Full pdf manual, and the one page wiring diagram for the FC (there are two, one for S4/S5 and one for S6). Also, download the FSM.

Then, examine the one pager very, very carefully. Anything that is not on that diagram, and that was controlled by your stock ECU can be ripped out.

If you are not comfortable doing what I described above, then I would strongly suggest that you get a pro to install the LT for you.

IM prety comfortable puttingthe new one in, but taking the old harness out I feel is the biggest scare for two reasons. At the ecu, the harness splits from driver side and passanger side but I know that I leave the driver side harness in. Does that plug get cut and the wires used to hook up the ecu. Cause i know you run new wires should i take part of the driver side harnes out. And on the passanger side, above the ecu to the right below where theharness goes through the fire wall theres relays and such that the harnes plugs into. Whats with those??

About the harness that goes to the driverside........leave alone. Nothing needs to be done with that one.

About the ones above the ecu....... you will need those. One is for the wipers (small black one). The yellow one you will need for the AC.

OK but those all hook into the harness on the pasanger side the one im removing. ANd when you say leave the harness alone I dont understand it is hooked into the stock ecu. I was hoping for some clarification theres 3 different plugs into the ecu. 2 of 1 harness of the other right?SO whats the specifics I cant believe theres not a more detailed install guide. Yeah the Pdf file on mirctoech site is great for ignition and fuel. But you got all other accesories on the car including aircondition and such that i have. I want everythign on the car to work as well.

The one that is alone and goes to the driver side....leave alone. Just unplug it from the ECU and do nothing else with it

The others are actually 4 conectors that are bundle together.

Remove the engine harness out of the car. You should have 3 yellow plugs and 1 black plug.

To make it harder....but easier for you to understand..........undo the tape and heat protector from arround the engine harness. Once you do this you will notice that you can isolate the black plug (wich is for the wippers). Continue unraping and you will notice that the yellow plug (the one close to the black one) can be isolated too. If I remember correctly there are a couple of wires from this yellow plug that goes to the black plug. Keep those that are conected to the black plug and cut the others off (leave about 6 inches of wire).

As for the remainder 2 yellow plugs that go conected to the ECU.........you won"t need them. The only thing you want from that part of the harness are the conectors (e.i. injectors, Air temp sensor, water temp sensor, etc.) so you can use them with the Microtech.

Once you are done with the installation you will notice that the AC will not work (it won't blow cold air). Fo that you will have to connect together the blue/orange and the blue/white.

That is the best information I have recieved so far thank you very much the clarity is amazing why cant all replys be straight forward and non insulting like yours. Ive seen 30 year mechanics who cant figure out a problem, and a kid will come along and stumble onto the problem in minutes. You ask a question on the forum a lot and everyones big headed and like " If you dont knwo what your doing dont touch it" again thaks for the help
