So I have a 91 vert na. I installed a racing beat lightweight flywheel.when im installing the pressure plate and im tightening it down the inside springs sink inward. So then when the tranny is hooked up, the throwout bearing has nothing to return it and the clutch fork. Its a stock clutch to. I went to racing beat site and it dosent say anything about using a different pressure plate. Any ideas? Thanks.

 

How did you install it without a automatic counterweight? Or did you forget that tidbit?

 

Yes I have an automatic counterweight, but that has nothing to do with my problem.

You shouldn't need a different clutch or plate, should bolt right up, next question, did you get a flywheel for a n/a or turbo? Or did they send you the wrong one?

 

i suppose the first thing that comes to mind is if the pressure plate is good to begin with. my next idea is about the install. i'm drawing a blank, but does that flywheel require the clutch be installed with spacers?

 

and next is did you get the proper non turbo flywheel? huge difference between the 2 flywheels.

 

Its an NA flywheel. Ive had a turbo one, And I know there different. Na clutch wouldnt bolt up to a turbo flywheel anyways. Spacers is one thought I had but... I didnt know if that was something you can do. How can I tell if the pressure plate is bad?

 

did you buy the flywheel new from RB or used? it's not a matter of whether or not it's something you can do, if it applies to your application, then they should have been included with the flywheel. i'm about 99% sure my lightweight N/A flywheel came with spacers, so if you don't have them, you probably need to see about getting them.

as for a bad pressure plate, it's not something i've seen a lot over the years, but the ones i have seen were pretty obvious. burned and blued to all hell or the springs were so worn that you could move the splines with your finger, that sort of thing.

 

the RB pressure plate should have come with spacers, the flywheel is unlikely the cause, or you installed the disc backwards.

it's not rocket science.

Its not a RB pressure plate. I know the flywheel isnt the problem, but like you and the other guy said that theres a spacer between the pressure plate and the flywheel.

 

Called Racing Beat, its suppose to have spacers. Thwy are sending me a hardware kit.
