PLEASE dont get 6x9s and a sub! The 6x9s are a poor-mans setup instead of using components/axials, and a sub. They create standing waves within themselves, the structure layout means that you'll never get as good SQ as a decent set of speakers (the outer edges of the oval have different resistance forces than the edges closer to the middle)

Get some decent components up-front, you wont regret it

Oh yeah, and you've got the room - so go for a sealed 12" sub as well

I usually keep them just below the db level where i can here it shake the rear hatch. However, with some padding for the hatch, i can turn em all the way up and not hear a thing; crystal clear.

I haven't had anything but the rear hatch rumble.

Bass is not a "system", you need to have some decent mid and high frequency speakers. Components up front are practically a must.
