Angry stero install question

My car is a 87 gxl and the stero is a JVC CD\MP3 player.

I started working on installing the deck in my car yesterday. I got the plastic kit that takes up the extra space and I got the wiring harness.

I next spliced all the wires together and added a grounding loop to the grounding wire.

After everything looks good I hook up all of the harnesses together and ground the stero properly.

The stero has power but the problem is that there is no sound comming out of the speakers.

Does anyone know what would cause this assuming that I did all the wiring correctly and that the speakers were working yesterday morning with the stock radio?

yup! I forget how I did it, I think I used the power amp lead or something from the stereo harness to power the amp lead.

can anyone tell me how to power the amps. The harness I bought does not include anything to power them.

There should be a (usually blue) remote lead on the stereo harness that can be used as a amp lead. I bypassed mine and replaced the speakers so I'm not sure what you hook it to in the dash. My stock amp was located underneath the glove box next to the front speaker. I don't know if it is there on the GXL though.

make sure the radio is not pre amp out only, meaning it only sends a signal not power.

Its easier to just run your own wires. From the radio and straight to the speakers, and just hide the wires under the carpeting and behind the panels, thats what i did.

no it is easier to use the factory wires and re-wire past the amp at the amp if you have a high powered head unit.

screw the amps. they are a bitch, I had 2 probes with the same ****. sometimes by pass harnesses are available. I just bypassed them all. I think there were 3 total. I have a pioneer cd, 2 pioneer 4's, 4 pioneer 6.5's, 1 pioneer 15 DVC custom sub, 1 fosgate punch 75.2, and 1 sony 760w sub amp. It is helpful to look in the haynes manual for wiring diagram.
