Hey anyone selling or know of anyone that wants to sell a used JL Audio Stealthbox for a FD?

I don't think they exist. Your best bet is to build a fiberglass enclosure into your spare tire well, or build a small box to mount behind your divider.

They USED to make them in the past, but JL Audio stopped making them due to very little amount of FD's, they ARE out there, just can't find anyone with any that wants to sell one.

hmmm....I used to work for a car audio shop and don't recall them ever selling them, not saying they didn't, just suprised to hear that they did.

I will support RX794. They did used to make them. I remember seeing them in the little JL stealthbox book at my local Bryn Mawr (Tweeter now).

As far as finding one, this has been brought up so many times on the forum, and I don't think I have ever heard of someone really having them. I am certain I have never seen a real life picture of one, so I am guessing your chances of finding, and buying one, are worse than slim to none.

I know that JL custom built a stealth box on an RX-7 project car but I don't believe that the box ever actually went into production. But maybe it did.... I dunno

It did go into production, and I almost had my hand on one a while ago, BUT unfortunately this is what happened to me:

So I'm looking for one again, as far as you guys never seeing one, it basically contains 2 8" subs in an enclosure that fits in the spare tire area, and it also has a place to fit an amplifier with a clear cover, so you can see the amp when installed in the box. Hopefully someone is out there that has another one they want to sell, even if the speakers are blown, as long as the box is in perfect shape, I'll buy.

Have you tried contacting JL Audio direct about the availability of an RX-7 Steathbox? I know they were manufactured at one point... AFAIK, Stealthboxes aren't regular items but are built-to-order; I was told this by a dealer when I bought one for my Miata. Maybe if there is enough interest, they can fab a batch for a group buy?

Hmmm, I never thought of that because I thought once things were discontinued they just never built them again, I will call and ask, only thing is that as far as a group buy is concerned, I don't see that happening, first even though I heard this box is really built well and sounds good, I don't think there's not that much interest in it for a group buy, plus it would have to be through a JL dealer which I am not. But I will try to call them and see what they say.

Cool, keep us updated. BTW, Stealthboxes are nothing more than fiberglass enclosures that fit the contours of your car. They *are* somewhat overpriced IMO. If you have a local audio place (or even a plastics store) that does custom fab work, you can have one built for you. Just spec it to the internal volume of the sub you'll be using and you're set.

K, I e-mailed JL Audio about either locating a FD stealthbox that may be collecting dust somewhere(wishful thinking), or if they can make a one off for me, and/or see if it takes a group buy to make some, I'll let you guys know what comes of it.

Not yet, BUT I did e-mail them again, and also I'm going to see if I can meet with the local JL Audio rep by talking to a friend of mine who's the head installer for a pretty big JL Audio dealer locally, I'll let you guys know what happens as soon as anything does, this looks like it's gonna take much longer than I anticipated.

Last time I saw one for sale was on ebay and some guy in Mississippi was selling it.. I was close.. but didn't win it.. that was about 10 months ago.. maybe less..

I'm interested if someone does make one.. I know it was fiberglass.. didn't it have three 8inch w0 or w1 subs could be mounted right??

It had 2 8inch subs in a stealthbox that was mounted in the spare tire area, it also contained a glass enclosure for an amplifier.

Ahh.. 2... its been awhile since I saw one.. Well, if you do decide to make a copy, let me know.. I'm sure JL contract the work out to someone to do custom work.. So, it might be cheaper for everyone to just get someone to make it for us..
