Well, based on all the help, looks like my best option is to use the Bride Low Max or MemFab superlow rails and either the Sparco EVO or the Recaro Profi's. From what I can gather, the seat position will be low enough for me to use a helmet and I will be able to adjust comfortably back and forth.

I have also learned I don't need the side mounts as the rails come with side mounts, so I need the rails and then the seats.

Thanks to all for your help.

They do not go back far enough for tall people to fit comfortably. Which I find ironic because most people buying those fixed rails need as much room as possible. So I have a set of rails that are useless to me. I will need to make my own.
Can you elaborate on this? I bought a set of these (the 'updated' model) because I'm a tall guy and I need to mount my seats as fixed to give myself as much room as possible.

Couple of questions for the seat experts. Anyone know which of the Bride Low max rails to order for use with a Sparco Evo seat in an FD? There are several types but I am assuming this?:

Bride Super Seat

Second question, is the Bride system a double lock rail or single?

Thanks for the help!

I've never used those rails so I'd only be guessing, but it seems like something you could ask Tees.

So I ended up calling TEES and alsol consulted with Sparco and the general consensus is the Bride Low Max rails will work with the EVO seat. Ordered them a few days ago from RHDJapan as they are out of stock in the US until November.

Should be here in a week or so and I will report back on how they worked.

Do you mean the LF-type rails? Because those are the only "Low Max" side-mount rails they make (besides the ones designed for the Orbis, which are for tiny, tiny cars). And FWIW the site says they only work with the VIOS3、ZIEG3、and MAXIS3. Or by any chance do you mean the XL-type rails?

The FG-type rails will work with just about any side-mount seat, but in my experience they NEVER make the seat as low as it could be without serious modification to the seat or rails. They're well made (except for a tendency for the hardware to rust) but poorly designed for that purpose.

At least, for the FC and for the SW20 MR2. Maybe the FD rails are better... or maybe they work better with Bride seats. I had to drill new holes in the seat on my FC, and have the rails completely cut up and re-welded for my MR2. They say "up to 50 mm down" on the site, but for any car with a stock seat that's already as low as an 7 or a 2, that's just a codeword for "barely not higher than stock."

FWIW, if you're American and not incredibly skinny, never buy a Bride (which is pronounced BRIDD not BRIDE, as in the opposite of GROOM) without sitting in it first. They are designed for skinny Asian people. Even some Japanese can't fit in them comfortably. It's like sitting in a straight jacket. And by extension, Bride rails are designed for seats that aren't designed for big people. So while an EVO 1 might fit (you can always grind the mounts a bit for a few more MM...), a 2 or 3 will most certainly not.

Yes, LF type rails. I know what they say about only fitting certain seats but supposedly they will work and will lower the seat position quite a bit. A few others have used them so I am going on this but we shall see.. The rails showed up yesterday but they didn't come with the side mount brackets so I now have to source those. Next week.

They don't come with side brackets!?!?! That's a rip...

Apparently one of the better rails out there for headroom are from Wisteria... but they're $$$$ (more then Bride) and I think they're made to order...

Next time I get rails for a Japanese car it will probably be from them.

2. Recaros from the Spirt R
3. Gias Lowmax
4. Bride Zeta III
5. Bride Vios III lowmax
6. Mazdaspeed Type-F
7. Memoryfab s58
8. Corbeau - some models, they supply the custom racks.

10. Recaro Profi and or SPG ( with slight rubbing to the door but not much, if you use Recaro rails instead of bride it will fit fine)
11. Sparco Roadster
12. Sparco EVO with stock seat rail (shoulder bolster will rub on the door)
13. Sparco Milanos
14. Memory FAB S58
15. Recaro Spirit R will fit with AUTO POWER 6 point cage
16. Recaro RS-G (All versions)
17. Bride Artis II (driver)

2. Sparco Evo 2 - - fits with seat modification.
3. Rx-8 seats (can be made to fit by modifying the racks)
4.Cobra Imola (with some minor triming of door side shoulder wing)
5. Sparco Torino 2 (modify the stock rails and get rid of the seat belt buckle they fit (barely))
6. Recaro Sportster CS seats placed on stock rails (tight fit) http://users.telenet.be/sammyrx7/ima...29_JPG_jpg.jpg
7.Bride Vios III lowmax WITH AUTOPOWER 6 POINT CAGE, must notch the side of the frp
bucket for the side bars to fit. Everything else fits!
8. Recaro Pole Positions (HEAVY modification)
9. Recaro R3's RX8 Seats (Custom Rails) Fits perfect, can adjust front to back. Lose plastic gas leaver trim. That is all

To add to the list: Sparco EVOs fit with the Bride Low Max rail system, BUT they do not lower the seat position as posted by others. They actually raise it a little bit.

I got these thru a sponsorship from Sparco with the idea they would lower my seat position for track driving, so my head will clear with a helmet. I'm 6 feet tall. The seat quality is great and I love the look but was initially disappointed they did not lower the seat position. For daily driving they are very firm and supportive and more comfortable than the stock seats.

I was bummed they wouldn't work for the track but then remembered the lower seat cushion is removable. Bingo! I now fit and they are still quite supportive and comfortable even with the cushion removed. So I've got a solution that works for both street and track.

A few other observations. Both seat upper bolsters rub on the door panels by around one inch. So if you close the doors, they will pinch the seats a little. I am going to resolve this by using a Dremel to cut and shape the outer bolster wings a bit so they clear. The fabric cover comes off and once removed, the seat shell is left so I'll trim this and reinstall the cover. Doubt anyone will notice at all.

Observation #2, the passenger side has an additional issue, it rubs along the inside of the seat, or the side that is closest to the center tunnel. I had to remove the center tunnel to install the seat, and the seat is now in its most far back position. If fits but if you try to slide the seat forward, then it wedges against the center tunnel. Not sure anyone would care too much here as most passengers put the seat all the way back for max leg room, but I'm pretty ****. So I am going to also trim the inside lower bolster portion of the seat shell to free up some room. Again, this will not be noticeable so with a bit of trimming, everything should fit fine and look great.

Any rail that isn't two piece or at least with the seat between the rails (with individual locks) will raise the seat of anything that's as low as an RX-7. The Low Max rails were designed to go with seats designed specifically for a low position.

A think in this case, modifying some cheap generic low-position rails would have been a better option for max headroom. Can't say for sure if it would have fit an Evo though.

Side (fixed) mounting is the only way to get the seat as low as possible.

That is right but from the width of the EVOs on the bottom, you can't go that route. They won't fit between rails and still bolt into the floor pan in the stock position. Maybe you could fab something up to affix to the floor pan but that was beyond my capabilities.

I'd also be very careful with using some of the other seat rails as most of them are single lock only, which is not very safe. You can request double locking units. The Bride's are double lock.

Sparco rails are 4X locking, with each rail having two locking mechanisms. Most certainly the best way to go if you want to use sliding rails.

That would definitely work but would defeat my goal of having adjustable seats.

I am happy with how mine turned out. I can adjust them and they are very comfortable for daily driving. With the seat bottom removed, I can track the car with a helmet. So, all in all, it's a good solution. Just thought others should know the pros and cons as it is not as easy as I thought based on the research and forum postings.

No it isn't. With the right sliding rails you can get to seat straight to the floor. Of course, it might take some fabricating if the seat is wide like an EVO or the rails don't let you go to the floor. And you also might not be able to slide very much, depending on the angle of the seat and rail mounts.

Lightest, however, is obviously fixed aluminum. Bride rails with steel mounts are heavy as crap.

Yep, finding dual-locking rails is one of the hard parts of finding the right rails... the most affordable rails are often only available with single locks. It's not just a safety issue, having the seat move under braking would annoy the hell out of me.

Unless you know about some sort of sliding rail that mounts to the side of the seat that I've never heard of before the sliders will always add extra height to a seat. So by design they will always sit higher meaning the seat will not be at it's absolute lowest possible seating position. Are some sliders lower than others? Absolutely! But when you're talking the difference of a 1/4" between fitting in a car or not that extra space taken up by a slider makes or breaks a seats fitment.

I'm 6'0" and I barely fit with a helmet with my corbeau forza on sliders, well actually I have to slouch a little and the helmet rubs. I was just going to hard mount it but I can get a better seating position out of a side mount so I'm looking to go that route now. I don't know how some of you taller guys fit at all!

Hey mahjik, Is there any way to get the atomicrex mounts outside of the used market?
