Evil Aviator is correct, the adjustable wing IS adjustable for a reason though ofcourse it should be set up correctly....

I could never see a spoiler like the ones described looking good on an FC, stock for me please. However I have seen a number of FD's that have large CF or FG spoilers that look decent. I wouldn't do it if it was my car but I think it looks okay.

They are not gay. They serve an important function: To keep ricers from spinning out of control during thier ricer fly-byes.

After this post, I'm highly considering getting the corksport aluminum wing, just because they are so frowned upon...

Have an open mind! Sure big wings, lights, and bodykits arn't most RX-7 owners look of choice. But as long as whoever did it put themselves into it, who are you to judge their taste? Who are you to say what looks good on another person's car? The only person whose opinion matters is the owner; this thread makes me sick.

its getting to the point in this area Alberta canada.
big wing = cops stopping you at every corner.
I do not have anything on my car that will attract the
cops,,, i just don't need the hassle.
its getting to the point in some cities,,,, you are
a street racer if you have a stainless exhaust on
your car, was talking to a cop today who was laughing
that he has stopped more hondas etc. to hand out tickets
for " to big of exhaust tips" than he has handed out speeding
tickets.
I say if you like paying fines bolt on the biggest wing you can find
along with a 6 inch exhaust tip and don't forget those blue light
windshield washer things
God knows the money goes to a good cause,, our politicians can
misuse all the money they can get their hands on!
my 2 cents

yes, i suppose your right..

it is all in the owners opinion..

but let me add.. just because the owner thinks making his car look like a circus clown car is cool, doesnt mean he's gonna get respect because he did it himself..

that's all ill say though.. i dont wanna argue about it because opinion is opinion.. i'm just stating a truth..

Now, everyone...

Don't misunderstand me. The only reason I'd even think to put an aluminum wing on my car, is so I can beat people who think that aluminum wings are "gay" and "only riceboys have aluminum wings"

I can bash anyone I want from a performance standpoint. Had this threads title read "Aluminum Wings; Bad Idea?" then that's another story. I could go on about how they *could* be a good idea, provided they're parallel to the ground, functional, blah blah blah.

When someone makes a post, saying that aluminum wings are gay, and bashing people who put them on their cars, let me give their car a once over and see what I can see, from a performance standpoint, and tear them down. Some people are more about asthetics than performance, and that's cool... not my style though.

Just as a last note... in my town of Springfield Missouri, there are a handfull of *true* riceboys, and I respect them. I'm not talking about people w/ fart cans, neon lights, and vinyl graphics on their Caviler; I'm talking about clean looking Honda's, Acura's, DSM's, and Mitsubishi's with performance mods (that are faster than most of the modded N/A's and *some* stock/slightly modded TII's on this board) and tasteful body kits. To me, people who do what they want to their cars, reguardless of what others say, to satisfy themselves; those people are more of car enthusists than some people on this forum, who post things like "What's a step-by-step process to make my car run 12's" and "Big *** alum wings, gay, no?" will ever be.

First post I felt an obligation to respond too in some time. I voted for super fecking gay. On a side post above, someone mentioned civics and probes. My second car is a 93 probe black primer with a mazda four banger with over 300,000 miles with everything stock cept the cpu.

Anyways. I live in the middle of freaking economic deadzone. There are a bunch of highschool punks that put these huge and otherwise nasty . augh... *PUKE*... spoilers on their cars. I'm not sure if they are niave or something. They need to sit down and read a ******* book about cars and aerodynamics. Ignorant people disgust me. I'm sure someone here will call me ignorant, thats fine, but I didn't put a big *** feckin gehy spoiler on my car that will lower my 1/4 by .5 sec because of the drag it creates. Not to metion the understeer. A spoiler on an FC or FD for that matter, that is that size, means only one thing:: GULLIBLE OWNER.

Every open an import magazine that has huge spoilers. "Downforce" Shouldn't they say "DRAG". Its all in the profit dollar. There are huge executives all around America that are laughing their heads off at abunch of young ignorant punks.

You can sell anything to anyone stupider that yourself.

On another sidenote, there was a ?late 60's nova in town that had a huge cardboard wing on it that said "imports suck." Also had a logo that said Domestic power. Laughed my *** off. Wish I had a camera, it was awesome.

Later all.

Thought I should add some pre-flamatory defense. I'm not saying that all those wings are gay. Just that on a 110hp civic, it means just that. I guess my understanding about it may be totaly differentto yours. Those of you that live in California and Florida have access to those things that make cars go fast. In South Dakota, it is a rarity to find someone that even knows what a rotary is, or for that matter what an big spoiler really does do to a car with less than 300hp. I've seen a civic that has a spoiler that literaly went 5 inches above the top of the roof of the car. There is no way that can be functional. Anyone that wants to provide a good defence for saying that these types of wings are of good use on street cars: come live and drive in South Dakota for 2 weeks. You idealogy will change drasticaly, and you will be itching to get home.

yeah 99% of the spoilers on todays cars are pointless, but they look nice, thats why people get them. The aluminum wings are just flat out ugly. Those kids pickem up on ebay for like $30. A couple bolts through their trunk and they think they've got a street beast.

Gay

Very Very Gay
Bolt on wings are RICE

Nices clean looking cars gets more respect i think

For the exterior
on my 7 t2, i would do a lower/strut job
and then some wheels (if that).
Gotta do the s5 tail lights though.
Thats it, no need for bolt-on plastic or metal wings
They don't make you go faster which is what i'm aiming for.

I know that it is a rather young crowd on this board and it is refreshing to see that you young guys having given into the riceboy mentality.

Real sports cars don't need stickers or aluminum runways.

big *** alum wings ghey? depends...

I live in southern california and around here it seems that they come stock on civics.

In my opinion they only look good on race cars or on FD's. Now this is a pic of a race FD but it 'almost' looks stock on the exterior exept for the wing and the rims. The body is actually fiberglass I believe.
