Bazooka TA850C

I've got a Pioneer 200watt head unit, 6 1/2s in back and 4s up in front installed in my FC.

There's virtually no bass when you're moving, but if you're sitting still, it's O.K. I'd really like a little bit of bump while I'm driving so I've come to the obvious conclusion that I need a subwoofer.

I want something small and self-powered, which led me to what my local circuit city carries. The Bazooka TA850C powered 50-watt 8" sub.

The reviews are a 70/30. The general opinion says it's great, but I wanted 7club's opinion.

I'm not looking for window shaking power...just decent hits as I'm driving and richer sound. I would mount it behind the driver seat or passenger seat, on the floor.

Discuss.

Works well for me and my FD. Has just enough bass to make the music sound good. I wasn't after window shaking stuff though.

I have the powered sub by JVC and it is a night and day difference. Now my stereo sounds like a home system instead of having a thin sound.I purchased my unit from Crutchfield for they offer great tech support along with standing behind their product. It cost me $180 with wiring kit and again it is an unbelieveable difference.Mine is mounted on the wall behind the seat and pumps the sound right into the back of the seat where you can feel it.

I have the exact same Bazooka mounted behind my driver seat with the grill towards the door. I don't really let anyone else drive my car, so I don't have to worry about the seat backing into it (plus I have an old Corbeau Clubman).

My headunit lets me select -6 tp +6 all around bass (which does the woofer and speakers) and a low/mid/high power directly to the bass. On high I can shake the windows but it seems a little weak to do it properly. The thump at that volume has a bit of reverb that scares me of pushing it for too long. I bought it for the same reason you did (to get a bit more bass while driving) and it does the job well for the price (plus it's hard to beat the size/ease of install) IIRC, I payed ~$90 for that model.

Your going to get good sound out of it but I'm not sure if you'll get the shakin of the windows that your looking for if you put a 10 back by the hatch you'll have more shakin of the window.

Hijack much?

I've got the Bazooka TA850C installed. Good bass, but I have a feeling I don't know **** about adjusting levels. It's got a gain adjuster on the sub, then I've got Bass, Treble, Midrange, SLA (Dunno what that is, honestly?) and Low and High Loudness. Plus, of course, Fade and Balance.

Currently, my Treble is on +4, Midrange is +2, SLA is 0, Balance and Fade are equal and then the Bass is at +3 with the Gain **** on the sub set at what is probably 80%.

Anyone have pointers? Or am I good?

Just mess with it until it's where you like. Different types of music would sound better with different variables. I have mine with 0 bass, +6 treble, balanced all around and set on Med loud. Very balanced setup but like I said, it's all about what you're going to like and what type of music you listen to most.

You'll find yourself searching for that magic setting but there really isn't one because it varies from the style of music being played.I myself like pulling out the mids because they end up cluttering the overall sound. Also,my head unit has a subwoofer output level which I have set at the max of 10 which I keep constant and then adjust the EQ based on the music being played.Enjoy your new toy for I am sure it makes a marked improvement to your overall setup. Now get in your car and turn it up!
