Grounding the shield?
Are you talking about the CAS wires?

If so, don't do that!
It's already grounded on the ECU side, and grounding both sides causes more headaches.

yea i grounded it by the ecu but if its already grounded then i guess i dont need to then my next move is to move the magnets inside the cas closer to teeth to see if gets better signal

this made the biggest difference for me. It worked better but still did the same thing. I changed out the CAS and did the same magnet thing and haven't had a problem since.

ok im getting a little fustrated with this haltech. i tried a new connector and new cas and it stills spikes. when i turned the car off and back on the haltech is not getting any signal at all while cranking. but when i take the cas out of the car it fires the injectors and the sparks right up. i didnt do anything different other than change the connector and try out another cas and cut the ground that was ground the shielding cable i tried grounding the shielding cable from inside the car but someone told me its already ground at the ecu. can someone help with. also when i turn on the ignition before cranking the leading coil sends out with this. and also when i turn the ignition on before cranking the leading coil sends a spark and the motor backfires.

You need to adjust the gains and filter settings and there may be a problem with the actual CAS wiring itself.

Adjust the gains/filters first and go from there.

What firmware version on the E6K are you using?

What Haltech proggie version are you using?
v6.34?

If he's using a v6.xx proggie, he can't adjust gain / filter on the ignition inputs.

Long shot, but where are the main engine grounds?

well the grounds for the ecu are under the dash but was told to run it straight to ground on the battery or where the negative on the battery grounds. and also the battery is in the back so it wouldnt be too much of a problem to run them back there. and where do you check what program version i have?

then something HAS to be up with the wiring.

If you can't return it to the state is was when you began adjusting settings in the Haltech by simply turning them back to where they were at the beginning - there is no problem with the ECU.

If the conditions change without changing settings (ie. you say "it never was the same after adjusted"...) or you get different condidtions with the same settings then something either in the wiring, or in the signal going to the ECU is varying and causing these issues.

I would start by undoing any extra grounding you've added to the shielded cable.

i did that my next suspect is grounding the ecu to the battery ground and making sure the battery has a good ground back there. also is there a reason why the leading coil spark when i turn ignition on before cranking? is that bad grounding?

Set the Trigger gain to 1 and Home gain to 2.

Filters on 1 for both from what I recall.

I agree with El Senor ClassicAuto -- wiring problem on the trigger harness would be the first place I'd look.
