I need to shoot flames!!

Well now that I have my car running right I have to mess with it.

What can I do do get some nice sized flames out of my exhaust.
I have read of altering the fuel cut, but dont know where to find it in the haltech maps.

my setup is and E6K on a S4 T2 with a downpipe, midpipe, and dual cat back. no cats.

I would prefer a method that does not harm performance or reliablity of my engine. Decrease fuel mileage is not a problem.

Also if there is a way to do this that does hurt performance than I can just mess with my laptop for a sat night and then set it back to normal at the track.

Thanks, I am going to buy a bag of marshmallows now

turn decel fuel cut off, and prepare to see orange in the mirrors if you let off the gas while the exhaust is hot.....

You could do this a number of ways...

Disable decel fuel cut, or just go ahead and hook up the 2-step, which is what I use.

I was told the haltech 2 step is a ignition cut of which is pretty violent.
Do you have any vids of that by the way?

and cutting off the decel fuel cut, that leaves the injectors on all the time too...correct? Like I said I have no prob with gas mileage.

will this effect performance.....I seriously doubt it.

The actual way of doing it is turning off the decel cut off (rotaries DONT like this anyway), and then, the last 3 bars in the vaccum side (all the way to the left) turn them higher than your minimum idle bars. When you come off the throttle it will be richer and then you might get the flames.

Not possible...
At the very least, you're risking damaging the exhaust system.

thats a little scary since I have a $2,000 dollar exhaust system on my FC.

Well I can always adjust it with the laptop just for some sat night fun and then set it back to normal.

Where you saying rotaries like to have the fuel decel cut turned off anyways??

Decel fuel-cut gives you a little bit better gas mileage and allows the revs to drop faster when you lift off the throttle.

If you want big flames on throttle lift, turn off the decel fuel-cut (like everyone says) and richen the high vacuum (extreme left side of fuel maps) from 3k all the way up.
Double the bar heights in those areas, and I'm sure you'll get big fireballs coming out the tailpipe.

and use the dual map function: one regular map, and then the FIREBALL map with the above stated parameters...

thanks a bunch guys.

The biggest question I have now is, how do I access this on the haltech software. My online Haltech manual is corrupt off the website and it never shows the hot-keys.

1. does anyone have a pdf version of the haltech manual that is not corrupt.

2. what menu drop down is the decel cut? Setup>Fuel map....?? I am guessing I dont have my laptop here with me, I want to do this when I get home tonite.

Yah, I'd like to know why you said that too. I've never heard that from anyone else before, and the stock ECU incorporates fuel cut on decel IIRC...

Also, to the OP:

I know a of guys who will turn their secondary rev limit to 5,000rpm and then wire it up to a switch under the dash. That way they can drive normal, but when they want to "put on a show" they flip the switch and rev it to 5,000rpm with ignition cut and get some pretty big fireballs.... DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! lol
