E8 Calculated advance and Sec ign angle?

E8. 1.89version.

Sympton. Hesitation and what feels like ignition hickups on steady state throttle.

Data logging I saw this...

Secondary ign angle bounces from 34.3degrees to 29.2degrees
Calculated advance bounces from 351 to 24degress.
Fluctuations follow each other.

Is this normal.

Running racing beat wires autronic 500r with 4 trailing coils.

thanks,
Ian

I've seen this in datalogs as well. Brought it to the attention of guys at the US and Aust office. Never followed up for an answer and nothing was ever offered. When shooting the engine with a light we could never reproduce the problem so always assumed it was a datalogging error.

Sounds like another problem with the 1.89 software.... They really should release a corrected version.

Thanks for posting guys.

I have a few weird problems. This is not the first. I was going to get rid of the E8 and get the Platinum 2000 but considering other venues.

I've had the E6k and now the E8. To bad they don't offer "extreme" discounts to repeat customers

I think the new software should be supported on the new E8 When I ordered the E8 I was pretty sure to tell them I would like support for some time. 2 years later they don't even list or sell the E8. I hope they will continue to provide support on bugs and hopefully fix some of the issues.

Voice your opinion on the Haltech forum. I'm probably going to get myself into trouble by posting the known issues. Also if your sure its a software issue please add it to my post on the 1.89 sticky....

Hi Dan Ian and Chris - The datalogging issue is a datalogging issue NOT an ignition advance issue. We have all been over this ground time and time again, the leading timing and trailing timing work as commanded.

These issues have all been raised in other threads and its been shown that the ECU outputs the correct timing. The datalogging on the other hand - its the read headed stepchild no one wants to talk about !

I see. Funny is that I didn't notice this until I developed a ignition hestiation or something and I started datalogging variables to see if i could figure out.

Rather then just looking to see if the plugs were worn

Thanks for your input.

Your correct that datalogging software is buggy but generally the response I get that its probable the vista............
