Unhappy Burning Oil!

I have recently done an engine swap and Haltech installation. My engine seems to run good and has good compression but it is burning oil, so much so that I can't even drive it down the street.

I have tried various things such as blocking of the oil metering pump and rebuilding the turbo--nothing works!

I was wondering if during the Haltech installation something could have been hooked up wrong (a vacuum line or oil line) or maybe something is not blocked off correctly.

Check out my other post for more information:

If anyone has had a similar problem before or heard of a similar problem and knows the fix, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you! I don't understand that post too well, but you can bet that I will figure it out. I'll let you know what happens.

I'm still waiting for the pics! The hose that was connected to the oil vent was the big one coming off the block under where the top mount intercooler should be. I vented it to the air, and so far it just smokes a little at idle but will smoke much more under boost.

Possibly related: my BOV is not working and neither is my boost gauge. I tried moving these around to different vacuum sources to no avail. Could it be that not all of my vacuum lines are blocked off correctly causing a loss of pressure? There is also the matter of the vacuum line that goes from the block (around where the oil injectors are) to the firewall side if the intake manifold. Should I leave that connected or block it off?

I hooked up a one way vlave to the vent on the oil filler and the inlet manifold, it seems to be running much cleaner but will still smoke when I accelerate and will continue to smoke afer that.

Any input is appreciated.

Sorry about that. I cant give you any pics right now. Im not even in the same state as my car, Im on vacation. Ive heard of simalar problems to yours when you accelarate it will smoke. Mine was not like that, It would only smoke at idle and light crusie, under boost would clean it out. Ive seen people with to big an oil feed to the turbo cause what you are discribing. To much pressure builds up in the turbo and blows past the oil seals into the exahust when the oil pressure goes up which is usually at higher RPM. If you BOV is not working that will not cause it to smoke but it will cause compressor surge which in not really a good thing. As for the oil injectors there should be 4 vacume lines (1 on each injector) that go into a small plastic part with 4 nipples on it. On the other side of that part is a nipple for a large hose that connects to a port back behind the intake manifold right by the firewall. When I installed my haltech I hooked all of that back up so I dont know if that could be the problem. The only other thing that ive heard of that will cause what you are discribing is bad oil control rings which requires a rebuild. Does your car some when you start it? When you get a J-spec motor thats been sitting for a long time the oil rings, which are rubber/silicone start to harden and leak oil thats the chance you take with a J-spec. I dont want to scare you (I could be totally wrong). I will be back home in a week if you can wait that long I will post a pic.

I appreciate the quick responce. Hayes Rotary wants another chance on rebuilding my engine since they still owe me money for the first one.

The rediculous clouds of smoke have stopped. It still smokes though sometimes less and sometimes more.

I know that a BOV that is not working will not cause smoke, I'm just wondering if it is not working due to the possibility of there not being a good vacuum seal in my manifold which is letting the pressure out some other way causing the vacuum line on the BOV not to have the pressure that it needs to open. If that is the case, it would explain why my bost gauge reads negative boost.

My oil injectors are blocked off. There is another vacuum line coming off the block right around the oil injectors but it in not the oil injetor line. That is the one that I was wondering about. I just want to make sure that everything that should be blocked off is before I go swapping engines. Maybe I'll borrow someone's digital camera so I can show you better what I'm talking about.
