i have a rotary tool with rasp attachments, and sculpting rasps and they take out quite a bit of material. once the shape is right i will sand it all smooth.

yeah the way i was doing it has been really inefficient, sand, test fit, sand, test fit, sand, test fit, etc. this will save time. not necessarily a better fit, but a hell of a lot faster to get the fit.

let me rephrase, i am going to restart my sculpting. my initial plan was to sculpt the foam while it was still in the headlight bucket so everything fit right, but i then decided against that because im didnt want to take an chances on damaging anything. so now im gunna sculpt in the bucket very very very carefully.

i got the foam sprayed, and it turned out 100x better than the last time. i am much more satisfied. i also employed a few more tricks to keep everything lined up this time.
