As stated before, it's Automatic Transmission Fluid. It's supposed to go in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS ONLY... (Well, not true. It also can go in Power Steering Systems and some Volvo Manual trannies...)

DO NOT USE ATF IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER!!!

Instead, use MMO... (Called Marvel's Mystery Oil.)

ATF is not designed to burn. It will infact, leave MORE carbon deposits behind. Also, if you have a catalytic converter or oxygen sensor, it will trash it.

MMO IS designed to burn, as it's both an oil and fuel additive. MMO is thinner and will flow into more areas than ATF.

MMO was supposedly originally designed as a supercharger lubricant for use in draw through, carbureted systems...

Wrong----you certainly may use ATF in the combustion chamber and rotary owners for years to help free stuck apex seals and create higher compression when needed to start a flooded engine. While you don't want to use it as a lubricant you may certainly use it in these specific cases and it does work wonders.

this is VERY OLD NEWS. Facts prove that ATF is bad. Try to search MMO. ATF is designed NOT TO BURN. Why would you put it in your motor? Sorry Jeff but you are DEAD WRONG. If nothing else ATF kills the plugs, O2 , pre cat 2nd cat and the main cat. So is that kind of damage worth it. Not IMO. MMO is safe for o2 and cats. Seaform is also a great treatment to try. You can find it at most parts stores.

Thanks for the advice, the fact that I have 10 years of experience with these motors is inconsequential when MMO and Seafoam salesmen are on the job.

Glad I don't have to worry about it anymore

RE Turbo II. Please do whatever you want to do.

And Socalrotor while I don't agree with anything else you say, I will agree that we should impeach Bush!

at least we agree on something right?! FTR I stay away from additives. IMO even if the ATF works, and I wont argue that it WILL increase CR, it does more damage that is is worth. I cannot see how you do not agree that ATF kills the cats and O2. That is a fact I have seen with my own eyes more that a few times. BTW is no pstn 7 your LP? that rocks!!!!!

Yup No Pstn 7 is mine and we do agree on at least one thing

The viscosity and other properties of the ATF make it a cherry pick for resolving flooding and low compressions issues. Used once or twice it will have very little effect on any part of the rotary engine even if left for days. If you use it more than that, you likely have additional problems

It does seem to me that your argument may have some merit as to the residue left by burning ATF on the O2 sensors. Therefore I would amend the usual ATF trick to include removing the O2 sensor prior to introduction of ATF.
