Question Trans/Mods for 400rwhp

I'm building a first gen 12a turbo car and will be right around 400rwhp... Does anyone have suggestions for which tranny to use and or what mods i can make to my 12a gsl tranny? Will a TII tranny hold up? if so will it bolt up to a 12a and will i need to get a new clutch? i have a new centerforce dual friction now for the 12a tranny....

Thanks
Josh

You should be able to run the TII trans. You may have to fab up a mount and a driveshaft though. There is forum post that goes over all of this if you search for it.

It will bolt up to the 12a as far as I know, you will have to run a turbo flywheel, clutch, and hydraulics.

here is a fun easy solution that i have used. make sure you just buy tires that will lose traction under a lot of load i would rather buy cheap tires than clutched and transmissions but just a idea

Make sure you have a plan of attack on the differential.....

the rear ends are the weak link.

use the GSL-SE rear end, stronger axles, and a miata LSD and the only thing you'll have to worry about is how to dial in the suspension.

How does the GSL limited slip hold up? Im getting moser axles from billy sometime in the future along with the big brake kit and rack and k member conversion. Are the ring and or pinion the weak link or primarily the axles? Thanks guys

I'm currently running a Series 2 with a 12abpt motor that was previously putting out 300rwhp. Currently getting rebuilt for more power.

I'm currently running a series 3 rear end and LSD, Series 4 turbo gearbox. I've been told that I'm going to have to upgrade the rear end, and will be going to a shortened Toyota hilux conversion

Well at the moment I'm running minimal rubber, 205's on the back and are just crap street rubber nothing too sticky.

I'm happy having that as my "achilles heel" as the wheels just spin and take a lot of stress from the driveline.
