Tec Gt

Does anyone have experience with the TEC GT system? I'm trying to hook it up to my computer so that I can start making changes, but my computer won't recognize it. anyone know how to get to the map that is already on the system? I don't have it saved on the computer yet and i dont want to start from scratch.

I have a TEC3 and I don't think they changed the way the save the maps with the GT. There is no way to retrieve the base map from the ECU itself, you might need to start from scratch.

The way it works is you open a bin file from your laptop. You then go online with the TEC, you then program the TEC with the bin file. Unfortunately if you lose your laptop, you better have the file saved or you will have to start over.

We have an electromotive specific forum, here is the link.

Thank you. I spoke with electromotive today, they confirmed what you said. I was able to retrieve the file name from the system though, so i've forwarded that to PFS, and ray said they probably have the old file, so i'll find out tomorrow. car is running extremely lean and he's going to help me adjust it over the phone if he can find the file. hopefully it works out, i've driven the car like 50 miles since i got it and 20 since the new engine haha, and now its winter

I spoke with ray today, we adjusted the fuel parameters and it actually idled pretty well. but in neutral it still took a while for the rpms to rev when i floored it. we noticed the water temp on the computer was only like 15C, and the guage on the car showed in the middle. we unplugged the coolant temp sensor for the TEC and the car died immediately. He says i must have a ton of air in the system still. I'll burp the system when my roomate gets home so he can hold the funnel ful of coolant and i'll warm up the car again. and see how it runs.

the radiator hoses weren't warm but the block was pretty hot, so coolant isn't flowing, which is affecting the TEC temp sensor.

Also, anyway to tell if my plugs were fouled without removing them? i put them in new but since it hasn't been running right they might have been hurt. this could also be contributing to the problem.

Is the car at Ray's now or with you? I doubt your plugs would foul that fast but Idon't use the platinum plugs for the 3rd gen, they foul too fast. I used 9's all around from the 2nd gen TurboII.

Check out my plugs on the link. the car is in my garage, he's helped me out a bit on the phone but i can't really get it down here. I've got 9's all the way around. I put the old plugs in but they aren't that great either, but now my battery is down so i have to wait for it to charge to see what happens.

If this doesn't solve the problem do you feel like coming to poughkeepsie for a few beers? haha.

Just read the thread, looks like you got things figured out after pulling the plugs.

Now time to enjoy riding around!
