jebus how much power you making roughly if you dont mind me asking?

how'd the shifter line up in the car? did you do the extension to bring it back further?
really looking into this swap. the RE, and RE-W swap is pretty hefty, and i'm pretty scared to throw in another Rotary until im more financially stable, and/or less ignorant.

Uumm like 230rwkw I think, just a K-27 on 10psi.

Stock twins with exhaust/intercooler/intake made 207rwkw

Shifter is a bit forward, just needs a couple of bends to make it line up perfectly, those shifter extensions feel like crap.

does it feel awkward with the bends shifting?
the tranny lining up is the only thing i'm dreading with the swap. everything else seems really straight forward and worthwhile.

i've got a motor on lock with the rear sump, 2j waterpump, regular TB, and new headgasket, bearings, etc. driftworks had fucked me up with all the external dumping JZ motors.... lol

most FC Aero covers that.
although my knockoff BN didnt which was cool.

strobes need to go in the reverse lights (or license plate light lenses in S5 tails) front FTP's, some in the hatch (yes, trance the **** out) in the wheel wells, and you'll still have 2 more to throw somewhere.

ebay 12way kit. ***** $160. so worth it.

Bent shifter feels good, no different to stock. And toyota boxes shift better than my 13B one ever did!

Handling is a bit different. If you are 100% serious about competing and doing really well this might be a drawback. Without a front sway bar it sucks ****, I modified mine to be about 60mm shorter so my wheels clear it at full lock.

Ive got it pretty good now, but I feel a 13B will always be better

Swaping the RE or REW isnt to difficult of a swap but to make it easier and simpler to get rid of the twins and go single turbo and use an aftermarket ECU with harness so you can get rid of all the connections you dont need and set up a solid ignition setup. Banzai Racing sells a set of motor mounts that makes swaping the RE in pretty stright forward but if you go REW youll have to have those mounts custom made.

I ended up Swaping the REW in mine but I went a little crazy with it.

damn you jebus for telling me that! haha thanks for the info though. i'm not driving in formulaD this year so maybe i can throw it further into the firewall, and move the rack lower (even though that will make the tierod angle worse...) i need to check with XDC rules and find out exactly how far/if you can recess the firewall to fit a motor. hopefully it's open rule so i can handle that shifter location issue.

i've never driven with a front sway so i cant remember how it even feels. i wouldnt mind doing a rotary swap, its just i'm ignorant, and it costs so ******* much to get it right, and its still a gamble. i'm really hesitant to throw every dollar i can come up with into an RE, or RE-W (even though i'd prefer it over anything if money were no option)

plus i kinda just signed my death certificate, and am picking up the 1J on monday... i might as well give it a shot. i'll screw around with mounting it low, and back before i finalize the full build.

if i were to build another rotary this time i would go big single with a standalone. i'm really happy with the RA seals in my motor. they've handled alot of "accidents" surprisingly and still show great compression for it. my old motor with atkins 2mm **** seriously blew if i looked at it wrong. although i think the porting was to blame for that one having inspected the wear marks on the irons.

i need to really spend like a ******* week, and do some research. i've been in this **** for way too long to still be retarded.... although like i said, i'm pretty much stuck with the 1jz. who knows i may be able to mount it nicely, and just go with it. the Black shell from this year is what it's going into as much as it kills me to re-use this car... lack of money FTL, but everyone knows that lol

Mount it with the sway bar off, use solid mounts, you can basically sit the engine a few mm off the steering rack, and if you take the pipe off the back of the cam covers you can put them under the factory seam on the firewall, youll know what I mean when you do it.

sick. thanks man.

the one thing i was thinking may work was to cut the firewall, and tuck it back a few inches. the only things that will limit me from going super far in, are the rulebook requirements, turbo manifold location, and mainly, where-ever the shifter lines up perfect is where its staying.

i wouldnt go that nuts, just maybe like a few inches around the cam cover, so it's minimal. i'll know more once i start. the ideal setup would be to have the shifter lined up perfectly, and like maybe 1 cylinder over the rack.

I think if you can get your hands on a soarer r154, the shifter is already extended back.

However, if you do get yours extended, take it to a good welder. You could get your inner extention linkage rod shot peened and/or heat treated to make it stiffer and i dont think boxed aluminum should flex THAT much. There's ways around it and ways to make it better....just like anything. Jebus, cool deal on the swaybar mod. I spoke to you about a year ago about doing this swap. The only thing that changed my mind was time/money X downtime.

I'll be picking up something sweet (to me. You guys will probably hate it and call me a homo) in about two weeks. Anyone in the carolinas have some TII rear hubs and half shafts though, get at me. I need that ****. ASAP.
