yeah, i don't think that is Darren. i don't think Darren ever even finished more than a single diff mount. the pictures he always shows are of half done products.
i just think this person wants to avoid vendorship on the forums and i was contacted about selling them for him.
these mounts are steel and remachined where darrens were all welded. even in the picture in that thread that mount was just tack welded and wasn't even complete. i think even darren knows better than to try and come back and rip people off for the same product.
darren's:
brandon's:
brandon's look nice, only issue i have is whether the studs will be able to hold up on the subframe side, it appears they are welded to the plate on the inside only. i can imagine they may crack and break loose under the stress eventually. it is more compact and a cleaner design though. most of the time the mounts break because they are behind more than stock power and abuse levels so the mounts must actually perform better than the original in mounting and hold ability. the design should work but i would weld the whole gap, not just the stud side and also use locknuts on the through bolts for the pucks, simple threading will not hold the bolts in place indefinitely.
i was going to make something along those lines but i think if he polishes up those few things on the mounts then i won't have to put the time into development. no need for 2 people to compete in the same limited market.
i can pretty much guarantee Darren's aluminum mount would have bent and failed in much less time than even an OEM mount would have. the stress on the sandwich will bend the soft material in no time flat, ripping shortly after. it takes a lot more R+D than just making a shiney product that looks nice, the chinese already have that market cornered and i figured we still had higher standards than ripping off our own.. but darren's motives eventually came out anyways so getting them repaired would have never happened even if they did make it through the finishing stages.
in any case, i do not believe you need to pay vendor fees to make induvidual threads for the group buy forum. that will help those of you who just want to sell one offs without paying the $75+ per month for vendor fees.
note: i am not liable if this does wind up being him again. take your own risk when dealing with induviduals and even some smaller businesses, do your research and get references. i just found it wasn't worth the small amount of money i could possibly make on reselling them if they did wind up failing and i was stuck holding the ball on an untested product if he did disappear. the price at $150 is reasonable though, for a fully rebuildable mount, assuming it holds up.

I break Diff mounts

That's a local member that I have prohibited from selling on my forum because he is or at least was a friend of Darin/Darren how ever you spell it.
I suspect these are Darins and he's going through friends email accounts/names. He's done this before locally.
His username there is Ilovemys5

Don't know either of these guys Darren or Brandon, never done business with them or even heard of them, but If you're selling an RX7 specific part, not on RX7club and you're not local but using local classifieds to sell it, I don't trust you.
