redoing the inside gunmetal grey metallic, and cusco blue mettalic cage with mazora flake/clear like my engine bay.

the outside is either going to be black, or viper red. leaning towards black again... it's just too sick.

Once you go black, you don't go back.

any photos? idk i'm really into the straight wet black. this time i want to take my time and wet sand before clear and add a lot of coats. i like the depth perception with black colors. the only thing i hate is when you do one run the car gets blasted dirty looking.... another downfall is the swirl marks you get from trying to keep it clean at the track...

i still have some HOK blue pearl but i really don't feel like messing with it... i know i'll butcher it. if anything i might try to get done with some ultra fine blue flake. gotta screw with some spray patterns to see how it will lay.

SeYou can use sg100 which is intercoat clear. 5 grams of pearl over black wood look nice. Thats how much I used.

It takes up to a half gallon of the intercoat clear unmixed to do a bn fc. More fore better effect

Why spend all this time with paint, when you're gonna hit another K-rail?

Hitting **** carries more steez points than a good-looking paint job.

i've never messed with it is the only reason i ask.

i guess i could screw with it on an over fender since it's small/easy to redo.

Dude lay it down like regular base coat. 50% overlap. Dont do over 4 coats of sg100. Dbc500 can have like 10 coats and wont crack.

Its nothing special

I use a pearl carrier usually like on my car but my car has baby flake in it,
Like chance said simplify by putting it your first couple coats of clear then just top coat with a couple coats of straight, it will add depth to the pearl and make it more vibrant and also add even more depth to the black cause you have Built more coats over the black base, do this, then if u want cut and cuff the bitch and **** with look like and oil slick!

agreed^ more coats of clear the better, that way you can go back over with 6oo, 1000, 2ooo and buffing compound and it will turn out baller. But i also agree with that **** just getting fucked after a bit. If your pushing as hard as you normally do your gonna remove your bumper a couple times and tap your tandem buddys and it gonna just have taken alot of time away for nothing.

You can also just add the pearl to the black and spray it. If you do it that way you eliminate the mid coats, and have a lesser chance of tiger striping the car with pearls or possibly running the clear and having a pearl sag.

i have a friend who just did yellow with a blue pearl that was in the clear, and it did sag in a few spots. didnt keep it mixed up well either. idk why, but i assumed if you mixed it in with black, once you thin the paint alot for the final wet coats the black pigment would eliminate the pearl. thats why i thought it had to be in the clear to show.

tried using my devilbiss gun today to lay primer on the cage/interior, and thanks to my pops for leaving thinner in it for 3 months it pisses out of the trigger... theres an oring that is swollen/cracked now :/ going to get some more and try to get it going for tomorrow. anyone else have good quality guns? i want to upgrade to a 3 piece set soon. 1 for primer, 1 for color, and 1 for clear. i have a primer, and a color devilbiss kit right now, and a mini gun for small stuff (i never use it) what are some good companies to look into??

Black is a pretty cool color when it comes to mixing in pearls and metallics, it will show everything.

DeVilbiss guns are good quality guns. DeVilbiss makes a 2 piece set thats good for novice or anyone else not doing production painting and are relatively inexpensive too. Check out the Devilbiss finish line guns, also your local paint shop will probably have the o ring for your current gun.

i hate to say it but i prefer the $15 harbor freight gun over my $600 devilbiss kit....
idk why, but that **** always lays consistent, and doesnt act up.

last time i sprayed my car with my devilbiss it was acting up. so i used the aluminum cup on a $15 harbor freight gun, and was amazed at how good it was.

haha i read that and thought arrogant *****... then i remembered i mainly spray with sata!

Buckey, harbor freight guns are straight knock offs of an older quality gun i used to have, they were so close you could swap parts between them.

thats funny you say that, because i actually used my harbor freight needle (inside the trigger) in my devilbisss to see if it made it work better, and come to think of it, it's still in there. damn. that explains everything.
last time my dad used it he was spraying my aero when i was putting the motor in the chassis, and i forgot about that being swapped.

funny. lol maybe i got hosed on my devilbiss and it's china made? haha real talk though it is older. i've had it for almost 5 years.
