Dgrr 2020!!!
I am going to play it by ear- and I'm sure I'm not alone. If restaurants and bars are still closed at the time of the rally I bet that will have a big bearing on a lot of folks' decisions.. As of right now we're thinking of staying in a hotel in town maybe rosewood or somewhere basic so we can walk to Nantahala or Mountain Layers or BC outdoors or whatever. If they are all still closed, and we decide to come up anyway, we'll probably look into Nantahala resort and grill/cook or drive to TN when we need food and beer lol.

restaurants are open in North Carolina but not for dine in. Drive thru and take out are still options at most that I have seen. Hopefully the dining rooms will be opened back up by the time were there.
A lot of roads are closing in WNC and businesses shutting down. You can go but probably not stay or stop anywhere.

We still have a little over a month... I betcha everything will be opened back by then. Those roads are pretty much the only source of income for a great many of the locals around there. The locals will be up in arms!! literally!! lol

Look at China and Italy to see how this plays out over the coming weeks. This is going to get worse before it gets better.

President Trump just just gave a speech and said "we must get back to work" It should be business as usual by Easter which falls on April 12 this year!!!
Sad face here too
This quarantine crap sucks! Only thing good about it is I have more time to tune & wrench on the FD. An early fall DGRR would be great if it can be organized.

I've been thinking that myself. Only downsides to going in the summer are: (1) Lodging and pretty much everything else is more expensive as summer is the prime tourist season, and (2) The dragon and all the other roads there will likely be clogged with lots of pokey SUV driving tourists due to #1. That said, I may head down there this summer with my GF for a little vacation, DGRR or not.
Good points. I do like to vacation in that region just about anytime of the year.
I'd move up there, but the ocean is my lady, and I can't seem to live more than a few miles from it.

i am moving to Hiawassee Ga Aug 5. i will be 82 miles from Deal's Gap so sign me up when it eventually is going to be run. the bad news is i may be suffering from twisty fatigue on arrival as it is showing 1 hour 44 minutes. not getting my calculator out that sounds like about 50 mph. most trips i am used to in the midwest end up close to 80 mph.probably something to do with mountains... which are scarce in Wisconsin. should be fun as the FD was built for the twisties. above all, i look forward to meeting fellow rotards.

It will be a great honor to meet you sir!! You will fall in love with those roads, the people, and the cars!! Very happy you will be joining us!
The way everything is working out looks like if I am going this year it will be in oct or Nov. If I can even make it happen.
I will really be looking fwd to the next meet though as it will be my 1st. At least the car should be 100% by then.
Any update for 2020?
