Im finally getting an FC - What an Adventure!
#1
Hey guys I have an FD - I drove it, I loved it. But I wanted more power and what was supposed to be a simple single turbo upgrade slowly lead to fully stripping the engine bay, painting it, and collecting high end parts with a "do it once, do it right" mindset ... that has taken 2 years. It's 90% there and I'm so happy with it considering I've done 100% of the build so far.
But it's nice. Too nice now.
I wanted something raw. That's simple. No blingy imported parts, no limited-made fibreglass pieces that explode when a leaf hits them. A car that doesn't turn heads except maybe to enthusiasts. The more analog the better. An FB was considered, but a (soon to be) white FC is probably my favourite car under the 100k range.
So I found an FC located in Texas. Stock ports, simply modded. Raw. Lots of room to still build it as I like. I messaged the owner Friday, told him I'd take it as is. I arranged every aspect of importing it over the course of the weekend, worked out every detail I could and submitted everything to the government that Monday. It's now Tuesday and I'm flying from Toronto, Canada to Texas and driving it back without even seeing it. I have a week off so I thought why not.
You're only young and dumb once!
It's going to take 20 hours to drive back, in a random, unseen raw FC. Any tips or advice?
I think I have all bases covered and to arrange an import of a vehicle in literally one business day took a lot of research and problem solving. But I got the approval from the border.
A huge thanks to the owner for working it out with me, sending documents back and forth, answering questions etc. Here are pictures of my FD progress and my newest addition!
