Not sure.

Weight savings was the last think I considered when picking up this hood.

The stock hood is aluminum and pretty light to start off with. Most aftermarket hoods don`t offer much weight savings versus the stock FD hood.

thanks, im gonna try some hick town mechanic that wants to make a quick $200 for just signing the damn safety, lol, an the link for the 99 bumpers seems pretty old an don't think they're selling, unless there's another link where you can order them from.

Do the mechanics at the Mazda's in wpg know a lot about 7's? cause i need to change my fuel filter once i get it out of storage, any a tune once i have the coin

you might want to PM the other FD owners in this thread to see what they think about dealers in the city and working on FD's.

hey bud depending on how far back oem u wanna go, i'll trade my 93 front bumper for your current one. Rofl.... please? :P
as for safety... man... i'd say ur best chance is to get some daylight running lights working and then make sure its mechanicly sound. Then just keep trying different shops until someone does it. I didn't have to worry about DOT glass or lights, and for seatbelts you jsut have to make sure that every seat has one, and that it latches closed properly. doesn't matter if they're from japan or USDM.

Make sure you're tires and brakes and whatnot are all good, jsut like a normal safety then go for it. If a shop does give u beef for DOT approved ****, just tell them thanks, you'll get it replaced, then try a different shop. I'd tell you some specific shops, but then my secrets would be oout!!

Brian knows teh engiens well, other than that, u wanna ask other owners or do the work yourself. im out tho, peace!!!

There are no good rotary repair shops in the city, but maybe some one can prove me wrong, or maybe my standards are too high for the quality of work I see being put out there.
I always say do it yourself it's really a nice setup under the hood to work on and if your going single it makes it even easier.
Plus this is a high maintenance car so you're going to be spending alot on repair bills if you take it to a shop. Just be ready for it, it will break they all do.

DO NOT go to gg's that place killed my first engine while trying to figure out my hot starting problem and they wanted $800 for their time trying to diagnose what was wrong. You don't want to get caught like me, you drive your car in and you tow it the **** outta there. I don't care what kind of trained rotary mechanics they say they have they don't have enough experience to be working on a FD

Here's hoping this image works. I've never really posted in these threads before, so hey hows it going haha. I also Agree with dave, You'll get the most out of it and save quite a bit doing the work yourself. Plus there is the the trust issue with Winnipeg shops, which I've never had luck with.

Dude, I had a similar problem at GG's. Took my 2nd gen there cause it was getting harder and harder to start it, until one winter day it wouldn't start at all. An $800 bill and an oil change later they found out it was a bad leading coil. Wanted another $800 for a new coil and suggested a new $400 exhaust y-pipe cause mine had a leak. I figured screw that, and they said the car will start inside where it is warm, so I said I'd just be down to pick it up shortly. I got there an hour later paid the bill and found it outside nice and cold with no chance of starting. I came back later with a used $50 coil pack, they put it in and I drove away. On my way home I stopped at Midas and for $20 they patched the small hole in my y-pipe.

Walls is good, period. I'm Not saying that he is good with rotaries, I'm only saying that he runs his shop well and that I have had nothing but good experiences with him. He has only done body work for me and helped with my tune, but I figured my opinion would still be worth something.
I still think your best bet is to do the research and work yourself. Or at least if you do take it somewhere, have the knowlege to know if they are doing something wrong. Do your research, thats the best and only thing anyone can really tell you in this situation.
