Interesting rad setup, looks like nice work on the ducting and fan shroud, plus nice to keep that liquid mass down low. Possibly a dumb question, but it appears that the hot air will be pulled out under the car, right? I'm just wondering if that wouldn't have the possibility of decreasing downforce/increasing lift? Or is your front splitter/air damn aggressive enough to create low pressure under the car that will help with flow through the rad without leading to lift due to rad airflow going under the car?

 

To be honest I never thought about that but this is exactly how I had my setup previously. The angle is a little more towards the floor then before but I don't think it will make too much of a difference. The only front aero I have is the 99 spec lip. I think I'm more concerned with my rear though LOL. At the moment I'm way over budget so any extra stuff like areo will have to come later when the budget recovers a little.

Got die grinder happy today. Cut off the hump and port matched the upper intake to match my FEED throttle body.

Small progress today. Got the triple EGT bungs welded on the manifold, finished welding up the fan shroud and brackets, drilled a hole for the AIT sensor in the UIM, started looming the wiring harness, and started making the bracket for the coils. Also got the material needed to hook up an exhaust manifold pressure sensor so this bitch is 100% logged so I can tune every aspect of it.

I also decided to fill the motor with oil and the pan took a whole 6 liters. Filling the engine block with Evans coolant took 6-7 liters. I'm estimating I will fire it up next early week.

OMG, this car is stressing me out. I'm running all over the place looking for small *** parts and doing little things on the car at a time. It seems like there's barely any progress but I basically did a 12 hour shift today on it alone with no interruptions. Never realized it would be so much work...

On the plus side, I got the whole oil system hooked up and the alternator harness in and cranked over the motor for the first time. Took about a liter and a little bit to fill the system with oil again. Won't build oil pressure for some reason though, I think its not cranking fast enough and with 3 bearings draining the oil, won't let it fill.

Anyway, need to finish the remainder, still lots to do... Got lots done today but it feels like I barely got anywhere with it... fml

That's how it goes with projects like this. Don't let it stress you out. Just take it one step at a time and you'll get through it. Keep up the good work!

 

ive never had luck in just cranking either a rotary or piston engine to get oil pressure to be read by a gauge. im sure it lubricates everything though.

the only time i actually read full pressure was by spinning the oil pump sprocket with a drill. so i wouldnt let that worry you!

 

A 13b will build oil pressure every time just cranking it. The general practice is to crank it over until it gets oil pressure before starting it.

Long day today but it was worth it. One of my oil cooler lines was clogged so I got no oil pressure. Probably why my previous turbo blew. But to my surprise (because I'm running 2000cc primaries) the map I made fired right up on the first try with no adjustments needed. Pretty much what matters summed up in the video. Enjoy it as much as I am looping it
