What's the latest update?

Got a new motor yet?

My vote is a 13B renesis with all the accessories. Forget the AC, and somehow get a copy of the Motec map used in the formula Mazda cars.

No updates. No motor. Been sitting under a tarp in the garage for about a month . Stripped a thread and need a 16*1.25 and a 12*1.5 or something die. Contemplating just tracking the car as really its a worthless car just sitting there LOL. So you missed out today. Got to hang out with amkard and payday. Just like old times. You should have brought the S2000 down to TMP.

Build a full track car, that's what I'm doing with mine. We'll be twins!

Today spent another 6 hours cleaning the interior. Last week I had the speedo dash out and took out all of the switches and cleaned all of the dust from the paint job and polished the plastic as there was some overspray or something over it. (A few hours just doing that) Came out fantastic. Then I proceeded today to pull out more of the removable stuff so I could clean it properly. You can still see in the pictures there is some more work to be done. Carpets need attention and the seat more or less I might just toss for a clean one or another sparco race seat. My passenger seat has been sitting in my basement for years so its all good

Last week took some plastic bits off to clean and pressed to hard and broke a few parts. Its hard to get the white body dust off these parts! The centre console more or less exploded in half. Its gonna be a nice bill for a few pieces.

It is amazing how much work putting few pieces on is. Oh well still have all winter.

I was hoping to put the engine in this week but still have not decided on build yet.

I've been procrastinating and just cleaning rather then installing the motor.

No real progress. Got a mint almost new ARC top mount. Still horsing around on what build direction to go. Fuel injectors need to be cleaned. Determine ADAPTRONIC or HALTECH fuel plug and play system etc etc.

Bought new interior pieces and that sort of stung me for any funding on the build. LOL

Just put it back to Stock. Nice exhaust and intake.
It will be reliable and still lots of fun.

Much better than just sitting in the garage.

Stock is slow! I'm liking my hybrid setup. Drives and works like stock but actually moves when you put your foot down.

Well another rather waste of a day. Third or forth time the stock turbo went on and off and the big turbo on. LOL. I staged the engine hoist in front of the car to make me feel like I am closer to getting to install it. No fuel injectors and most of the stuff is hand tight. Just test fitting.

I had this itch to take apart my original 400rwhp motor and see what it looked like. First impression lots of wear on the housings, and side seals appear to be pretty thin. I will have to measure them. Oil control orings also look like alot of wear but the side plates appear fine. When I took the front rotor off I hear a crack and low an behold a broken apex seal? Car drove fine. Last time out was a mosport GP track and never missed a beat. I can't say I broke it taking it out but now any regrets about taking a running motor apart is now gone. LOL

Hybrid for me is more money. I already have a full turbo kit sitting here. I do like the response of the stock setup though.

Now if an affordable hybrid showed up locally then maybe Either way need some sort of fuel management too.

Buy an RX8 and track that. You can pick one up for like $3-4k LOL. Low maintenance track car.

That's a rotary for you. They can be completely blown but will still get you home. The rx8 isn't a bad idea. I found a bunch of nice ones for like 6k in the fall when I bought my legacy. In hindsight I probably should have bought one instead of my legacy... lol! I hate automatics!!!

The RX-8 is a four-door, all-season beater car and... still a rotary.

Might be a problem if you are looking to save gas, though

Is a BNR Stage 1 rebuild, with a ported wastegate considered a hybrid?
Isn't that the way to go, Ian? Have it look stockish, but gain an extra 100hp.

And if you are sticking with the stockish tiny top-mount intercooler, enhance it with straight metho-injection...cool that sucker down versus letting it heat soak.

Cracked apex seal..

Sounds like it worked just like fractured piston rod caps.. Perfect fit!

Spent a few hours the past two weeks working on the car. Tried to buy a few parts at Mazda that are no longer available. Seems like more and more parts will become harder to get. Regardless its crazy how much stuff costs. Right now the engine bay looks like the spaghetti incident. So much stuff hanging around. I have seem to remember the engine bay being more empty previously.

Bought a power steering hose and coolant hose. New S5 gasket to go with my BNR stage 3 turbo. This BNR is a new type that completely replaces the CHRA.

Below is some pictures of the colour difference between the new radio surround and if you can see the steering wheel consul. THey all must have been made in separate batches cause none of the black is the same shade. And ya I now the carpet still looks grey. It still needs to be cleaned properly. It still has alot of body dust on it. Most of the time the camera seems to pick up more gray then it actually looks. The drivers seat will probable have to go. Its pretty bad. LOL

First picture is where am I going to put all of this stuff. Last picture is clips to hold the turn signals.

Well paid for my Adaptronic and paid for the new BNR stage three turbo. Issue is it was supposed to arrive at BNR two weeks ago. Never did. No idea where it went. CAnada post is investigating. Of course I don't remember insuring it. Didn't think they would lose it.

Other then that have not even touched it since last post.
