Engine & transmission placement

I recently installed a s4 n/a engine and s4 t2 transmission into an automatic body car (using an adapter plate)

It seems like something is not quite right with shifter placement and clearance between the fuel rail and heater core connector. I'll let the pictures explain.

Anyone have pics of how these areas are supposed to look?

Thanks

Possibly have the wrong driveshaft hooked up ? That'd be the only reason I'd think the engine would be so far back...but i would also think the driveshaft won't fit on one end because it probably has more splines if its the t2, or less if its the na (not 100% sure but just my theory)

I'm just guessing, but you'll want everything to match up with your t2 transmissions (flywheel/counterweight/clutch,driveshaft, rear end), im really not sure what is incorporated on an automatic , if that's what you're using, but everything needs to match up whatever it is you do have. Im not really sure what your adapter plate does though, i'd have to look that up.

Only other option for driveshaft is having a custom turbo to n/a driveshaft that will fit in the t2 tranny on one side, but also fit in the n/a rear end (they're different sizes so neither a t2 nor a na would work)

Also as last person stated, youll want the motor mounted on its motor mounts not just sitting on the frame to see the real position of where it should sit, as well as being fully bolted up to the transmission

for the shifter, it does sit slightly rearward but not that far, your adapter plate is likely too short.

the engine is on its mounts

the adapter plate was made by a buddy, without the car. kinda an educated guess at the positioning, but its really dam close. might take a bit of adjustment to get the shifter to the center (move it left slightly) but I still don't think the fuel rail will be moved far enough away from the heater core inlet

I just had a thought - i believe it is an s4 rail on a s5 intake manifold... maybe that's the reason the FPR is so close

That is a fuel pressure regulator, not a pulsation dampener.

The FPR is longer than the dampener, and I believe that is where the dampener should be. If that's the case, the heater hose will fit alot nicer with the FPR out of the way.

Also I see your fuel rails have no pulsation dampener, just an FPR in the worst possible spot for you, lol.
