The 62-1 is not a twin scroll but i do have a T78 ball bearing .84 a/r thats a twin scroll and has around 500 or less miles, I'll be selling it soon, sooner if someone pays me the right price!
Its the one in the pic i posted of my setup. Im gonna be switching to a garrett gt4094r with a .95 hotside real soon.

Very cool! I saw the line leading to the rear iron in the pic, just didn't know exactly where it went. It's like it was meant for it!

I need more friends that drink beer

I got a another question to everyone boosting. I'm using a .60 restrictor for the turbo oil inlet. Is this too small, too large, or just right?? It's a journal bearing turbo. What are you guys using?? My oil line is coming from my RB oil pedastal.

I hear .60 restrictor is the way to go. Maybe I wasn't getting enough oil to the turbo and thats why it failed..?

Bummer. Ahhh, ready to go!! My motor wont spool that T78 hahaha. I wouldnt mind for my next build though.

Small children might get sucked in from the turbo your using

What size oil restrictor you use on your turbo oil inlet?? Your BB though..

Im not using a restrictor at all. I use a -4 line from the top of the front iron straight to the turbo. At 85psi oil pressure i havent had the need for a restrictor. Anything over 100psi then i would drop in a .60. I get no leaks or anything. This setup has worked flawless on the s5 and now the s6 setups i have.

And the T78 i run it with a street port motor and S5 9.0:1 compression rotors. Its kinda laggy but at 3800 it comes alive like a crackhead on a binge!!!
I can break the tires loose on a 2nd to third shift and spin them deep into third!! Its a fun little snail...cant wait to see what the gt4094 will do!!

Wow!!! Now thats got me thinking. Maybe I don't need it either. I'm running -4 an line also, that bolts to the flange that is also a reducer.. Maybe i'll drill out the reducer a bit. Maybe the turbo wasnt getting enough..

I thought BB turbos took less oil??

Thats actually not to bad. I'm only stock motor. With the turbo I got i'm seeing boost by 3000 which I love. I want vids with that gt4094 after its done!!! Haha.

I keep traction in 2nd and 3rd with this turbo. I was shocked. Cause my 225/50/15 sidewalls have a lot of flex in them. I love it. I know I wouldn't have traction in 2nd gear with my old 195 tires.

I had the same traction "problems" until I went with the WB and now I can gun it like a bat out of hell and the wheels stay planted. I also went with the GT35R which is alive and ready at 3k.

Im gonna freshen up the motor this weekend and get her back on the road asap. Ill be using the T78 for about 2 more months then switching out for the gt40. With the smaller compressor ,67mm, vs the 78 i got now i should be seeing boost about the same but in a more efficient way....i hope!
The 78 is nice, but i find it too large for my needs right now.( thats what she said!!! ).

Sounds good!!! Hell yeah that will be a blast!!!

I've done some searching around and it looks like a lot of people arent running restrictors for their turbo supply. I must've starved my turbo. Lesson learned. Going no restrictor once the I get the turbo back.

from the center iron I just put a hose from the vent and it runs to the bottom of the car and goes no where (atmoshpere) probably not idea but I always just though of it as a vent, iirc it never really leaks much oil, just residue

I use a -10 drain on the turbo to a hole drilled on the front cover. I put a fitting on it and avoided any leaks by drilling oil pan. It works perfect. With the large drain it lets the oil come out with no build up.

Once all the gremlims arw worked out, turbo fb's are more fun than a horny drunk prom queen!!!

Nice!! Beats leaving it alone and letting the oil residue leak onto the rear housing lol

Amen to that!! Lol. My car was fast as hell on a blown turbo haha!

I got a 5/8 drain into my front cover. So I shouldnt have build up at all once restrictor is taken off. Cant wait to get my turbo back now.

Like you said these cars really need turbos. I don't think i'll have a naturally aspirated rotary again.

Hope to have turbo back by wednesday hopefully. We'll see. My turbo builder tore it down and inspected it. Said it looked like it was starved of oil. I'll be running no restrictor once I get the rebuilt turbo back. Here's some pics of the turbo after blown.

Don't look bad from this view.

I FINALLYYY got my turbo back today. Reinstalled and working like it should. I ened up drilling out my reducer to allow more oil in the turbo. I went out and test drove the car and had LOTS of smoke still coming out of exhaust. Guessing just needed to be broken in.

After some cruising/idling all smoking stopped. I'm still idling at 11.5-6 afrs. So still rich. I plan to join some afr forums very soon to learn more about tuning and engine management to get it dialed in as much as possible. Found out wastegate spring is 6 lbs, not 8.7 lbs like I was told . Haha.

I'll try and get some vids up soon of her running and some pulls. Sounds like a jet taking off with the open wastegate pipe lol.

Lately I've been dripping oil from the oil pan so I decided to get rid of the oil pan gasket and just use high temp rtv gasket maker. I saw this inside the pan though..

Just bad crankcase ventilation I take it? Castrol gtx oil less than 2000 miles on it^^.

Recently I bought a turbo blanket to help cool down temps in the bay. Definitely the best cooling mod! I was running around 1/3 on my temp guage and after installing temps dropped down to 1/4. Huge improvement!! Manifolds are warm now instead of hot and intercooler pipes are warm/cool during day/night.

Thats one of the better fitting turbo blankets i have seen...or maybe its just installed properly...

In the oil pan, that looks like too much water mixed in to be bad crankcase ventilation. Im running 12 psi with the stock oil fill neck ventilation and i have never had that.

Digging tha camera placement on the video!!!

It's a cxracing turbo blanket from ebay. Fits excellent! I can hold my hand on it for a few seconds before it gets too hot.

The water mixed in with oil makes sense. Just not sure how it happened . On my old 12a it had that "lung butter" underneath the oil fill cap. There was nothing on the underside of the oil cap this time when I checked.

Thanks! I love my gopro. Suction cup mount on the top corner of the windshield..

Blew the motor :(

On my way home just 10 minutes ago the motor blew. Was just cruising entering boost in 2nd gear. As soon as I hit boost it blew up. I looked at wideband and saw 12.2 immediately after I felt power loss. Limped it home. Vacuum at idle after this is at 11-12 on one rotor.

Going to pull plugs and make sure its lost rotor.. I'll keep updating. Looks like bigger turbo and streetport is in the near future.. DAMNNNNN!!!!!!

and thatis exactly how i ended up with what i have!!! BTW, i have a T78 .84 ar ball bearing i may be selling soon.....i also have some TII side irons......i'm just saying...you know, in case you need some stuff....lol

i just finished freshening up my engine as well since the same thing happened to me....on a back road near my house i hit the gas in second, car pulled like a cheetah with a hot iron up its ***, hit third and spun the wheels hard....when i got to the lights i was idling fine...cruising home it started wanting to die....got home, pulled a plug and compression lost in rear rotor....pulled motor and found 1 broken Super Seal and 2 warped ones...rotor had a perfect stamp from the piece of the apex on it and a oval dent from the detonation....all this on just 12psi....

what im saying is ....DONT GIVE UP!!!

Wont give up forsure! If I need something i'll definitely let you know! I've done a few tests so far. I'm getting fuel. Got spark on all 4 plugs. 3 puffs front rotor. 2 puffs rear rotor. Need to borrow cherry picker and I'll have it out soon.

Turbo has to be t4 twin scroll. I'm working at turbo shop now so I can build a turbo I want for a deal probably. I'm pretty bummed. I bought this motor 4 years ago with 50k miles on it supposedly and its lasted awhile of me beating on it. Next motor will just be better...

Two things, and that way it won't seem too much like a highjacking...

1) Are you all running off-the-shelf exhaust manifolds? I would love to just buy one and forego a custom setup, but I don't know what models fit our cars. I have a mocked-up manifold ready to ship for a custom model, but I'll forego this if an off-the-shelf T4, divided, w/ v-band for my wastegate is something I can buy!

2) Water injection.

The car looks amazing.

for the last manifold you will ever buy, buy it from Gato Performance. i have a 85 and i got me a equal length custom manifold for less than $500 shipped. the guy builds them for the top racers in Puerto Rico....so if they are good enough for a 7 sec 13B, they surer are good enough for us!!

as for water injection....i have a brand new Snow Performance kit....waiting to be installed....but i'll do that when i drop in my new GT4094R.......

The difficulty is fitment...I can't exactly ship my car down there. If they *know* what will fit an FB, that's another story...

Something is REALLY off you you are detonating and having
such a catastrophic failure at only 12 PSI.

When you put it back together, make sure you re-tune it,
check your AFRs with a wideband, make sure you are not losing
fuel pressure either. Something is off in your combination.
Fuel/Air/Timing or Spark.

At such low boost - I would run stock Mazda seals too.
Hell, that's what I run at 20 PSI, LOL.
