told ya 15+psi was too much for the high compression engine, im sorry to hear.
Yeah, I knew that was pushing it too. What started as a "can you clean up the fuel map for having a hiccup?"... turned into a full retune with added boost. Just all bad. Tuner had no worries and is known as one of the best in the rotary game..
Next setup I think I'll have turblown do a conservative remote tune.

Thanks Bori! Yeah, that's definitely my easiest/cheapest route to get back on the road and then just dial the boost back down to 10-11 psi.
There were a couple things on that setup I didn't like.. the T2 manifolds I'd like to swap for FD manifolds, better engine mounts, leaky turbo oil drain and I hated the cheap modified turbo manifold which is one of the most important build parts on a turbo car.
I really want to do a Borgwarner 7670 EFR build if staying turbo. I'd go with turblowns cast manifold, turblown stud kit, new adaptronic ecu, S5 T2 streetport engine, FD manifolds, update ID fuel injectors, and 12-14 psi with water injection on turbo rotors so no more high compression. Only issue is the money lol.
We'll see in time. For now the car is sitting in the garage on jack stands. This probably won't change anytime soon, but I'll be sure to post up progress once building it up again.
Tell me more! At this point I’m thinking change the rear iron and lower boost with a studded motor. Then put some other things on the car I want fixed.

Yep, we can talk. This week I lit a fire under my own *** too... Time to see some progress.

Definitely! I’m pumped after not being able to go to Sevenstock and seeing photos too. New plan is to get the car running by spring!
I took some more parts out of the engine bay today to get ready to pull the engine. Going to save money to buy a stud kit and coolant seals for new rear iron and try to install a new rear iron only. Once the old rear iron is off I will check to see if everything else is good inside the engine.
Plan to reuse the same turbo setup. Turbo will get rebuilt and I’ll get rid of the manual boost controller and go back to the 11 psi wastegate spring. I’ll leave the same tune on there to get the car running and then probably have it reworked for boost to make sure there are no lean areas.
Then when the car is back on the road I want to get the wheels redone. I have a love/hate relationship with these. The fitment and poke is a little too much so I’ll probably have a friend in SoCal redo them for me. Missing my CCWs now 😩
I've owned this car for 15 years now. I bought this car May 20th, 2006 and time sure has gone by. I still need a new engine to get it going. I'm trying to be patient and either do a 13BREW or 20B like I've always wanted lol.. of course money will have the final say.
The teardown on the engine didn't look good. The middle iron looks torn up and rear rotor has the side seals stuck in it on top of the cracked rear iron. The rotor bearings were really worn as well as the eshaft. It caused a lot more destruction then I originally thought.
Trying to motivate myself more towards the car and get it going again. It's been sitting too long 😔
Here's some photos of the car the day I got the 7!
