I ordered the last of the engine parts from atkins on monday morning. Still haven't arrived!? Planning on building the engine sunday, but can't do that if the parts aren't here from atkins. 5 days to ship from washington to nevada seems a little long...

Anyways, I decided to paint the UIM gloss black. Think it blends better than all the blue I had before. Also prepped and painted waterpump housing. Decided to stay with the heavy iron FB housing. My car wont need no lightweight FC housing to make it go faster

I would advise against running without a blow off valve. Without one you will be causing alot of compressor surge on the turbo. That will lead to premature bearing failure.

I've heard both sides on this subject and decided to try this build without a blowoff valve. I used to work at a turbo shop and my boss who has been building turbos for over 40 years says there is no need to run a blow off valve. What he told me plus the bit of research I did it doesn't seem to harm turbos at all as long as everything is right and in good order.

Here's a thread I read while researching on it. https://www.rx7club.com/single-turbo-rx-7s-23/8-months-counting-no-blowoff-valve-884695/

I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens. Hopefully my turbo last! lol. I always appreciate your advice Sam! Hopefully you won't be saying "I told you so"

Very nice! The blow off sound makes everyone happy lol. I'm looking forward to hearing the flutter now.

Got the rest of my parts in from atkins rotary . Engine build is a go for thursday!! Can't wait!

Getting everything laid out and ready. Needed new bearings for my stationary gears. Old ones were showing copper. New bearings installed.

Thinking of getting new bearings for the rotors but they are in great condition and a lot of reptubale builders say to use used bearings if in great usable condition.

Engine is built . Everything went together like a dream! No issues whatsoever. End play is at .0020" with a V spacer. Spacer that came out of the engine was a X spacer.

Big thanks to Ben(Karack) for coming over and supervising me and helping me build the engine for the first time. Excited to get this going.

Now i'm running to the store to go get hockey pucks for engine mounts. Pics to come soon.

I wound up using solid Aluminum "pucks" for engine mounts. I even solid mounted to transmission mount to the crossmember. I did leave to rubber mounts between the trans crossmember and the body.

Hope to have the 7 on the dyno in 2-3 weeks. Engine in and running by next week. 1 week to break it all in. Then the dynojet to tune and see numbers!

Very nice! I have little rubber mounts for the transmission mount to body. Transmission mount to transmission is solid. I think the hockey pucks will be perfect cause I dont want full solid, but don't want stock. Plus you cant beat the price

Here's some pics taken during the build process. All stacking. I didn't take too many pics.

lol same car too right ^

I forgot I still need to install freeze plugs for the coolant ports. I'll pick those up tonight after work. Hopefully 24 hour autozone has them. As soon as I finish the hockey puck mounts I'll be ready to drop it in the car.

Thanks everyone! The sealer was actually just high tack sealant.

Hoping to drop the engine in tomorrow if I can get a engine hoist.

Appreciate it! I try to do the best work I can with the little bit I have available. I wish I had more tools and a bigger garage lol. If it weren't for some of the people I've met, this club, and the people on this forum I wouldn't be here. I've learned a lot here

I'm a little nervous too, but more excited.

Couldn't get ahold of my bro in law to borrow his truck so I could pickup a engine hoist lol. Hockey puck motor mounts are done though... Just need hardware to install them. Picking up coolant freeze plugs later this morning, if you can call it morning lol..

Clutch, pressure plate, waterpump housing/waterpump/pulley are all installed. This engine is just asking to be dropped back in the bay and started up. Soon, If I can get a engine hoist lol.

Haha im tyring to be patient Sam^

I've been busy with work but managed to get a lot done. Here's where I currently stand.

Only a couple things holding me back from startup and break-in. The Turbo exhaust manifold which I'm contemplating on getting modified to have the turbo sit further from intake maniofold and I need one intercooler pipe on the turbo side to replace my old bov intercooler pipe.

So, startup will happen this week. Just a few bugs to workout.
