Looks like a familiar project! You're doing a fantastic job, looks great! What are your plans for insulation? I used the POR-15 over the interior of mine, then put the damplifier pro everywhere, then some reflective batting, and THEN, some of the popcorn (household reflective bubble wrap) the professional interior guy told me about on top of all that. All that material made it more difficult to put the seats in because the bolts needed to be longer or the rails needed to be squished down far enough to engage the stock bolts (which is eventually what I was able to do). That may be overkill, but I can say that the ride is nice and cool. Even on 90+ degree days with no A/C the car was nice to ride in with the windows down. It only really got warm when I was sitting at idle for extended periods of time, and even then not too warm.
Enjoying your build - it's gonna be an awesome looking showpiece when you're done.

No decided plans as of yet. I went with the Spectrum spray to replace the heavy tar with a lighter and hopefully more effect per weight replacement. Honestly, I am not sure. I am really trying to keep the weight down while remain some level of civility.
Well, if light is what you're going for, then I suggest the foil backed bubble wrap on top of what you have. It's called Reflectix. I visited a professional upholstery place near me and they told me they use it on their builds and showed me pictures of how they do it. It's really cheap too. You can find it at Lowes or Home Depot:
I love your work, and the fact you're restoring the original color! Have you found any wheels yet? What are you looking for? When its done, you have to let me head east and see... I'll bring my FB.
I have gsl-se wheels. My intent is to have them remachined. Next Memorial Day weekend there should be the second RE-Matsuri in Moses Lake. this is the facebook event link.
Things have been slow. Car is still at the shop. Dude got sidetracked by a SEMA build, so I get it. So if my paint gut gets hired out of state to do a job for a SEMA car, I'm cool with that. So in the meantime I have been working on electrical. Put amber LEDs in the dash and LEDs in the exterior lights. I still need to get LED Headlights and license plate lights. I wanted bright brake lights and by damn, people are going to see me. I also intend to get some relays set got the headlights and power windows at minimum. Installed a new blower fan. cleaned up th housing. A bit disappointed that the motor cover does not fit over the motor. When I buy a part they say fits, I expect that it fits. I am also adding a terminal block for the positive side for the fuseable links, headlights, ECU and related parts and possibly some round amber foglights down the road.
Nice! Nothing like some fresh color to get the juices flowing. Are you doing anything with the hardware? Since you're going this far, you might also consider having it all re-plated. Nothing finishes off new paint like fresh hardware. Seems like a bunch of work, but really not that bad and the end result is more than worth it.
As it stands I have repainted the black trim and the louvers I picked up this spring. Brake Booster has been prepped for paint, but not painted yet. light lenses have been polished and look amazing. Screws are replaced with stainless where applicable. I am aiming for regional level show car quality. Not award wining, but pride for the work I have done to be able to at least have fun at some events.
The rubber trim is being hand sanded with 1500-3000 grit wet paper. I did not want to paint over the rubber parts if I could avoid it. Some rubber protectant should finish it off nicely. For the metal trim I just bought a pint of SEM trim black and prepped and sanded. Sprayed with a 1.3 hvlp gun.
