been about a month. Here is an update. I do have a Turbosmart FPR and BOV on order. The Stainless exhaust flange is on order as well.
Surveying Not much happening at this point. Needs to be tidied up This is the bigger news. Intake has been bolted on. Atkins sleeves installed. Fuel circuit on the engine is ran. Coolant line for turbo is in place. I will need to add the banjo fittings once the real turbo is in place. A mock up using the HT-18s dimensions Nothing says 1980 like a speaker grill from the Galactic Empire. Considering the car is almost TIE fighter blue, I’m going with it. Oil return lines. No oil pan hack here.
this came in yesterday (9/29/2020) fuel release button. this one originated from a if it was to be believed an 1985 SVO. I liked the orange and felt it looked in place
been a while but not a lot has been done that translates into worthy pictures. Mostly electrical. I added a check engine light on the tach to integrate with the Haltech. In fact, outside of 4 items I need to wire up (and do not have in my possession) the ecu is a done deal. Power Windows are wired in with relays. Relays have been added for headlights as well.
did you reset the odometer? i did it with mine too.
i once bought this Rx7 for $2, and it was missing the cluster, so i got one and set it to 777777. it was really funny when i took it to get smogged, or register it they were like OMG you have that many miles on it?!?@#?!!
Awesome work on the car, I'm sure it's going to be fun to drive once all is set and done - didn't know until now that it was being turbo'd. The paint came out amazing (I know I'm late to the party, but still); makes me look forward to when I can finally do similar to my car.
I’m not going for big power, but broad powerband. So I’m running a s5 turbo. I’m hoping it will be quick but not fast.
Definitely sounds like it will be fun; in my opinion a broad powerband is much more enjoyably on the street than a peaky one, although perhaps not as thrilling. I'm planning on eventually doing a blow-thru setup with my Nikki and had thought about using an S5 turbo for that as well, but it's still a ways off. Also "quick but not fast" is what I like to say about my car, although yours will definitely be a lot "quicker and faster" than mine .
fuel pump arrived today. Holley 12-136 retrofit kit with the hydramat. Few loose ends to tie up before the tank is mounted. And then the fuel system is done!

LOL I also thought you meant you literally dipped your parts in soda (coke?) and juice (grape juice?). Thought it was a clever way acid etch the parts haha
repacked the grease in the front hubs. I cleaned the old grease out with kerosene and a make shift “ultrasonic” cleaner. Which was really a palm sander and a sealed container. It did an amazing job. I originally wanted to replace the bearings for the sake of replacement. The OEM bearings showed no wear and the only things I could find were Chinese aftermarket. I’ll take my chance on some solid Japanese made OEMs. Anyways I picked up so Schaffer’s grease and I am really pleased. Smooth and sticky. Waterproof as well. So that means I got my new calipers on and the Hawk HPS pads as well. I still need the brake hoses and to build the hard brake lines on the rear axle.
other highlights are the oil pan is reinstalled after installing a FD oil regulator and doing the suggested 3mm front shim. I also finished up the turbo manifold mock up. I used ABS pipe elbows of all things .
Sway bar endlinks. Weather pack connectors, 321 stainless and some aluminum as well.
I need to polish the actuator and replace the fasteners. Fits better than I expected I’m so happy I’m radiating That is the biggest 3” I have ever seen Minor changes from this side, but worth posting
