The scope creep of this project has been epic. Once you dive in to do something you will see 5 more things you will want to do "while you are in there".

The mission is to continue to improve the car from the nice condition it was in. I also have friends who have some of the nicest RX-7's anywhere. That type of shame will also motivate a person. Even doing some serious cleaning with a brush and some degreaser will improve under the hood of the car. You don't need to spend a bunch of money. I've spent dozens of hours just scrubbing books and crannies of this engine bay.
My friends have also helped with powdercoating a bunch of parts for me. Other friends have sent me for free or sold me new/mint/like new parts that are no longer available they had sitting on a shelf. So I cannot take all of the credit for the build. As a matter of fact I am happy to share the glory with GoodfellaFD3S, Fourtyounce and his brother 1CleanCYM.
1CleanCYM did most of the powdercoating that's been done on the car.

My friend Steve who isn't on this forum owns a Machine shop and he lets me use his facility at my leisure. I've done almost all my sandblasting there. And tried to measure many strange parts for thread size and pitch.
I am lucky to have great friends who go out of their way for me when ever they are given the chance. My wife has been very patient also

1cleancym is a work horse. He cut the 90 off my turbo housing, smoothed it out and powdercoated the housing today.
Boom!




When clocking the turbo it started to bind against the idler. He shaved the housing to provide some relief.

Double checked the GT35R outlet size for the 90 reducer coupler I need to order.
Yep it's 2.5 inches.

He's got some retarded mint R1 seats that I semi-regret selling to him. Ah well, such is life with the Mauru.......

Here is something to look at. I mentiomed I went back and took the lower off. Sent it out and it's been black ceramic coated.

I picked up a new clutch master as mine was rusty looking. That's the problem with basically restoring the car. Anything you don't address sticks out and screams to be replaced.


The clear line you see is a personal touch. Its a 5/16 line and it goes between the brake reservoir and the clutch master. Its Tygon 2375, you only need a foot of it and It's what you usually see on race bikes from the reservoirs. I think it looks nice and I also picked up some of the nice motorcycle type clamps to hold on the line. Should be a very clean looking install. I may even have a can of blue ATE brake fluid to show it off

I also have been sandblasting everything I can pull from the engine bay. Every bracket


This is the stand for the ABS. You can pull it out from under the ABS pump without disconnecting it. Remove the heat shield and this stand and add those to the list of items to get powdercoated.


Even the pieces around the PS pump. Pump will also get done and it's being rebuilt after it's coated.

I also picked up one of the HPS Silicone Hose kits. It's all stock replacement silicone hose that's already molded. I will be cutting mine to fit the Greddy V Mount but it looks like nice stuff.

 

When speaking with Heath at SakeBomb Garage he asked me what I was doing about sway bar mounts. I mentioned I had just purchased the AWR mounts to replace the stock ones that are prone to bend under hard use. He said he was making new sway bar mounts that position the sway bar correctly for lowered cars. Well I have a lowered car so I will be removing my brand new sway bar mounts and installing these.
May as well get the braided clutch line and a 3 bar map sensor bracket mount while I'm thinking about it.
They sell one for the GM sensor but Heath had me take some measurements and he marked where to drill the mount to accommodate the Apexi 3 bar sensor. In the future these may be pre drilled and finished to accommodate both types of 3 bar sensors.

I am not really selling anything right now until after the car is on the road and dialed in the way I want it. Then I may put parts up for sale. Some things are worth keeping on a shelf for future builds. Will see when the time comes. The AWR mounts aren't very expensive. They are cheaper than most of the other option out there.

Thanks for the positive comments; my build has reached a different level due to my friends kinda taking over on the engine bay configuration.
Looks like I may end up with a partial custom A/C system as some of my hard parts have 25 years of use and stand out compared to all the newness. I thought about buying a Condenser on Japans Yahoo auctions. I will probably buy a generic condenser and drier and build out from there. These types of things are slowing down my progress at the moment plus all the powdercoating and ceramic coating.

It will pay off because it will look and function better due to the little details we are paying attention to.

 

The devil is in the details I tend to avoid the devil at all cost but I can see and appreciate your incredible attention to details. Art work, great work!

Mike I have an after market condenser that was on an FD with a v mount that I parted out (new condition). It may work great. You can have it for 50 bucks shipped. If interested I'll send you some pics (pm me your cell).

Thanks Fritz, I have a line on one in the dimensions and with the connections I need but thanks for looking out for me. The problem with making the car so nice is I will be scared to take this one out on track.

Let's see some updates

 

Picked up a bunch of parts from JP3 motorsports (FourtyOunce and 1cleanCYM).
Also picked up a new braided oil line from them, dropped off more parts for coating. It's all pretty much reassembly from here. Might touch up the engine bay with some factory's CYM.

Something I do have to share is the stickers for the fuse boxes. These are available on the Auction site. Old sticker off, new sticker on the fuse box cover.
