Ptrhahn's Silver 93 Track/Street Build

I tested the cured nozzles today, and they work great. The hold as much pressure/vac as my mityvac will read, and the flow really will towards the motor. at least as well as the stock units. I probably could've used a slightly larger bodied model (they have many shapes/sizes.
The question will be how they stand up to heat and oil, but the main thing is that even if they leak a little, if they don't fail such that the motor can't pull back through them (as the stockers do), it'll be a little better. The other option I guess is to seal them up, so the oil has no place else to go but in the motor, and then you'll scavenge a bit of oil in vacuum conditions.
I'm loathing pulling it all apart again to install these now.

I've barely been able to touch my car since VIR, so it'll run at Watkins Glen in the same spec Labor Day, including blown OMP nozzles.
I DID, however, find the time to pull together a nitrogen gauge/filling system for the JRZs. For whatever reason, I couldn't find any local shops to do it, save one that wanted $150/corner. Yeah, no. The whole apparatus was less than that.

I'm in Watkins Glen for the week, for the car orgy that includes the INDYCAR race, a two day track even with Chin Motorsports, and the vintage racing festival and race.
Only really got one clean session, as my first three were black flagged after a couple laps for accidents, and day two was rained out.
Even so, I went FIVE seconds faster, and there was more to go. I haven't actually driven here in a couple years and am just tasting the new pavement. Can't wait to try again.
Also snapped a great pic on Franklin Street as the sportscars start filing in for the festival.

Aero and a single turbo are HUGE jumps (5 seconds is more like a leap LOL) for performance in these cars.
We need video
Love the sleeper pic. Most folks don't understand that a DD type car of any sort (R8, GT3, carrera GT etc...) rarely run low 2s at watkins glenn. What both you and smokey are doing is EPIC stuff
Some seat time and you are likely shaving another 2 seconds on R compound hoos. Don't even put slicks on because you might give yourself a concussion LOL

Thanks man,
Video is up. Best three laps run right in a row (although out of order). If I could have just watched this, and drove the next day, I'd have been quicker. I'm over-slowing the car on many entries, and turning in too late. Also, I've been hearing that juddering sound under braking for a couple events, and I think my rear calipers are going:

As I stated earlier people don't realize how FAST this little 93 car is going. It's literally not only battling with the big dogs (both drivers and cars) it's making them work to get by it. In Pete's case he can run those 2.03 to 2.05 laps for 30 minutes and that's straight up stupid cool. Add some slicks like the P car that passed him had on and he's shaving at least 2 seconds/probably 3 AND likely that GT3 cup will be checking HIS mirror and wondering WTF.... LOL!

The only advantage new cars have is stiffer chassis, bigger brakes, fatter tires, greater aero/downforce and better ABS.
However with Pete's new wing he's likely on par with most of today's GT cars and possibly beyond.
PS I forgot about the power.........A LOT MORE POWER LOL..........but as mentioned I'm guessing Pete's car is at approx 2700 pounds and it's likely making 375 plus HP so those are some killer #s in a KILLER CAR!!!!

Great videos and times Peter! Man that car pulls HARD. You have the shorter 5th gear right? It really pulls well even in 5th. Glad to see it coming together for you.
In other notes when I was there they didn't have the workbenches in the garage and now I see them in your pics. WTF Watkins!? I think they might have taken them out in prep for Indy Car when I was there.

Haha, I travel with almost a full spare set of brakes—rotors/hats, and a spare set of rear calipers. Been there done that.
The front rotors and pads were brand new, but on the rears I saw some white-crusty stuff on the brake pads which is the tell-tale sign of fluid seepage, so I think that could be a culprit... I can't find any evidence of even the beginning "good" cracking on the rear rotors yet.
Also, yes, I have the short 5th.

I don't drive the more modern cars, Fritz, and have always thought the FD was the best handling car I'd driven. (My old M3 is surprisingly close though.) So, I have wondered about whether its chassis was notably more flexible than newer hot cars. It's kind of the Lotus Elan of the 90's. It's tiny compared to a current Porsche and lighter by a good ways even before stripping it out for racing.

Yup, Watkins Glen is an incredibly fast track, and not terribly technical. The lap time is found in getting your head around how fast you can actually go through those corners, and carrying good speed in.
I think the F1 times back in 1980—without the bus stop—were 1:30-something. The Indy car guys were qualifying at 1:22. Really, I i need to be sub-2:XX to really be "fast".

Just a little off season update. I saw from last time out the tell tail signs of fluid seepage on the rear brake pads (white crusty stuff), so I knew it was time to swap and rebuild. I roll to the track with an extra set of rear calipers, and a full set of replacement rotors/hats. When the front calipers need it, I'll probably buy an extra set of those too. Brakes are too essential, and there's nothing lamer than having brakes cut your event short. It can happen without warning, so I like to be ready.
In any case, here's my extra set, rebuilt by Goldline Brakes, and coated with their special red polymer coating. The old ones are a bit discolored right around where the two "fingers" of the caliper touch the outer pad, but they hold up a lot better than any paint I've ever seen, and they come back looking SWEET, like a set of new Spirit R calipers. I had them coat my Racing Brake extended bracket, too.
