Thanks guys, I'm glad so many of you appreciate my build and all the details that go into it. It really motivates me to keep moving forward. I know it's totally lagging and it kills me to not be able to put the time I want into it but sooner or later I'll be cranking this bitch over and it'll all be worth it. Holidays coming up and work usually slows down so I'm hoping to drop the motor in by New Years.
Right now I'm waiting for my friend to finish sand blasting my suspension arms and powder coating them clear before I can press in my full superpro bushing kit. I also bought all brand new front back bearings, ARP long studs, rotary extreme toe link and trailing arms that need to go in soon. I also dropped the rear diff to swap in my other one with Mazdaspeed LSD with 4.3's and will rebuild the old one with OS Giken with 4.44's. Thinking about dropping the front and rear subframes for a fresh powder coat too.
And since I'm still waiting for the custom oil filler neck for the block and other small items, I decided to paint my block so took everything back off and started cleaning, prepping and taping off everything. Bought some Duplicolor 500F ceramic paint which I'm hoping will be good enough and now just waiting for Saturday to come which should be about 82F out to paint... so I'll have some finished pics up soon thereafter.
Not done taping yet but this is where I'm at so far...

Finally finished painting the block and started bolting everything back up. Whatcha guys think about the housing color? I was going for grey but this caught my eye and I really like the bronzish tint.

Not an extreme color but whatcha guys think? Also just bought a 20 ton Harbor Freight press last night for a steal... new bushings and bearings getting pressed in very soon. I'm also looking for a good non-oem pillow ball replacement bearing I can use much like the Atomic Rex ones that used to be available.. Should get a lot of work done in the next 15 days. Stay tuned.
Sand blasted on the left... powder coated "Cobra Charcoal" on the right.

If I don't find a decent alternative, I'll just go with the J-auto lower arms which eliminate the 2 lower Oem's and leave only the one top bushing. Or I'll just make my own custom arms from scratch with replaceable bearings and spherical joints.
Might look up Carter Thompson and see what they did. Pretty sure they went with all heims on their SSM car. It's a pretty simple machining operation to fit them and install some snap rings to retain them. tomsn16 is Carter's dad Jim. He would know.
