Small Update..

Cut off the hideous hack-*** job on the fenders in prep for orgin knock-off rears

Not perfect but good enough to work with as of right now... 2 and a half inches should be enough travel the front needs to be tweaked but i'll get to that.. Just wanted to work on getting the inner well welded up.

12 x 36 is the dimensions of width and length we'll need to fill the gap to make sure no rocks or water crud/mud gets up inbetween the fender and body:

Gonna have to pull this side off and do some dremel work on it to make it fit correctly But for the price.. it'll def do..

That welding looks legit. Glad the UIM/TB found it's way to someone who will use it

Oh, and are you planning to stick with the stock LIM?

Hey rich, ...no I'm actually going to be using the gz/ excessive lim.... just waiting around for a deal to pop up ;-) also...this throttle body is 100 mm... That's just wayyyyy to big for anyone under 3 rotors and not dragging haha. I'm gonna sell this one and use more like a 74-80 mm one. Maybe even a q45 tb :-)

I would go with a throttle body from hypertune, they are made extremely well and work with the stock TPS. I got mine from twinsturbo.com Ask to speak with Eric.

Update:

today I got to work on some fuel stuff..

As we all know the dual bosch 044 hanger is a nice pice..but they werent joking when they said it was bulky and hard to get in there. I was originally against the hardlines in-tank but my fabricator talked me into it.

Also I'm thinking i'll eventually use one bosch 044 out of the tank for the surge tank and one in-tank as a feeder.. overkill feeder? yes.. reliable... yes =-)

Anyways heres what I did today

finally got to the bulkhead fittings and lines for the CJ-M dual hanger so went ahead and took some measurements and assembled some lines
from in tank duals/bulkhead to 90 degree push fit

and from 90 degree push fit to fuel filter

whaalaah

This is how i had to position the pumps to make the pick-ups sit in the slosh bucket inside the tank

and after I had that positioning.. I tweaked everything around it. finally without hard lines to bulkhead....

Just to confirm... everyone proved me wrong and no we couldn't get the stainless hardlines to fit with the flaring tool and bends. So we got alum tubing and we'll work on that tomorrow.. but BJ "shop owner," said with alum..it will be no prob at all.

The fuel level sensor was a pain but eventually I got it all nice and clear of anything hindering.

What we'll be doing tomorrow:

Great job. i saw the z32 wheels and was like whoa i am on the right site. we have an fd and 300zx so i got confused for a second. I like the detail and effort you are putting in to this build. i like detail heavy builds i could care less about expensive parts i like to see effort and detail. awesome work!!!!

What was the wall thickness on the stainless tubing did you use? I used .035" wall, it looks to me like you used .020" wall because of all of the deformation of the pipe at the bends. ( i know you will be redoing it)

When I first ordered the stainless line I ordered .035" wall thickness and it was very easy to bend with the bender, the next order I made I ordered .020" wall because I was able to get it in 6' lengths...... BIG mistake, it would not bend without the deformation I see in your bends. The tubing is pure garbage, now I have a 5' piece of stainless that is useless.

Just a suggestion, you may want to look into making the lines out of a thicker wall thickness.

Are you going to be running E85? I dont remember seeing if you were going to be running it. If not, Why are you using a dual 044 setup, seems like extreme overkill.

If you are going to be running E-85 you may want to look into fuelab stainless sock filters, much better construction and look great. That is what I have in my car.... I need to update my build thread.

Hey Bro just want to start off by saying this thread is flipp'n epic! I love the build and the time you've taken to make this car... period. The wire harness a several posts back is simply amazing, not to mention the heat shielding and numerous details you've executed. Honestly the build looks more fun than driving the darn thing lol. Please god don't even consider selling this when you're done!

Nope... no e85. The stainless we used is actually just for mocking purposes.. We're re-doing the lines shorter with Alum piping instead. We'll be able to make tighter bends using the bender and a different flaring method without the tool.

91 octane with Water meth and there's a VP station with 100-109 octane not far from my house so i'll most likely have a race gas tune as well. The pick-up filters are VERY sturdy and havnt second guessed them in any way. Got them from a great source and I trust his judgment. Also, I got a GREAT deal on the pumps...and have only read about install errors as far as malfunctioning and failures with Bosch 044's. I'll be re-doing the system with a Surge tank when the time comes, But as I said before...Over-kill? yes.. reliable? yes. Room for growth later on? yes. The pan-speed fd uses dual bosch 044's and is making 70whp more than what i'm aiming for. So I chose to copy-cat them

Your fuel system is nice though and I look forward to your updates!! so get to it!!

What are your power goals? IIRC compressor should be able to push over 650 HP...

I did some calculations and as it is right now, two 044 in parallel, E85 fuel and very conservative BSFC, it seems that it could support over 900 HP even at 70+psi pressure. Only flaw is, that this huge amount of fuel will be circulating all the time through the system - over 300 watts worth of heat just from the pumps plus heating from the fuel rails.

On the other hand, single inline 044 fed by surge tank, even with maintaining positive pressure in the pump inlet via feed pump won't support much over 500 HP with E85 fuel. Even feed itself would be limiting. Increase of voltage via booster would push it substantially further as it increases pump speed at any given pressure.

Serial plumbing does almost nothing for flow rate with positive displacement pumps, which 044 is. But it gives ability to maintain almost same flow to extreme pressures.

Considering amperage of parallel setup and overall flow which won't be needed most of the time, staged setup would be very good feature and I know that its commonly used on powerful multi pump setups, for example in supra community.

Oh, I missed part about no E85 Just multiply all the numbers by 1.3

In this case, use just one pump, overkill is good, but not when the fuel system flows over double of what is needed. But thats just my opinion

Hey where'd you get the fuel sock setup? I had planned on using the one from pegasus racing but your fitting that threads into the pump looks likeit's brass and theirs is plastic.

Again, what wall thickness were you using? and what grade stainless? I used 316l
Why will you be able to make tighter bends with the aluminum?
How will you flare the aluminum without a flaring tool?

One trick I had to do a few times when making the hardlines on my car is to cut the tube sleeve as short as possible. When the tube nut is tightened up there is barely any part of the tube sleve sticking out. I did this so I could slide the tube sleeve up on to the bent portion of the tubing and was able to make the flare tighter to the bend. If you want a pic explaining that LMK

BTW, I think you are making a mistake running dual 044's on pump gas at your power level. With your turbo you will be lucky to make 550 RWHP. I think you will have fuel heating issues.

Can you also explain why you are using a long runner manifold with a top turbo entry, seems like much more unnecessary bends, and looking at your pics your wastegate placement is less than ideal.

John your killing me....

I won't be making anything over 500. I had explained a few times why I was going with the dual Bosch 044s, and I've already put into consideration having the second pump on a toggle, but truthfully they'll be just fine and I'm not worried in the least.
I've talked to multiple people of whome i'd consider turbo experts, and along with all the research i've done on turbo manifolds and runner length... i decided to go with a long runner set up. The wastegate location's are maybe an inch further than I would ideally want them to be, but it's an inch.. and they're top notch gates matched with a top notch Electronic Boost Controller. I'm looking to prove a few people wrong with my hp/tq ratio. And i've they prove me wrong... then the dyno will tell. But i wanted to do something a little different than a lot of people and this was one thing I really wanted to try and do. Therefore.... along with multiple e-mails with twins-turbo and their results on their road race fd and it's long runner manifold.. I decided to go this route. No offense to anyone using a shorty manifold in any way. I just wanted something different and believe I can have performance alongside it.

i'll have to look at the wall thickness of the alum tubing were using. updates soon!

Worked on my power steering relocation for a little this morning

decided to cut the bracket find some alum and make the bracket and weld the pump mounting piece to the bracket. That way I could have it positioned exactly where I need it.

needed to cut more

Bracket Bolt measurements

also realized I need a new main pully

slowly checking off the list... but I just don't know if it'll be possible to get the car done before this local drift event. we will see...keeping my hopes up but there's just a lot of work to be done.

for your EGT stuff, check out exhaustgas.com (exhaust gas technologies), they are great to deal with on the phone, know what they are doing, and have great products. I just got my 2 sensors and dual channel signal converter in the mail yesterday.

No one ever said you had to do it right the first time.

Glad to see you trying some new things, personally for your build. The great thing about builds is that you learn something from them. Be it, in this case, you can't use stainless hard lines with duel 044's. haha

Love the build Manny, and I'm surprised I haven't posted in here yet. I should be moving down to either Long Beach, or Orange county next summer. There will be quite the number for FD's around to hang out with. Keep up the good progress.
