On the bright side, George has more time to work on my car! I'm sure that's what you were thinking already, right David?

Sure was a lot of blade material going through the engine.

More than likely, any blade material wouldn't make it past the hot side of the IC core.

The coupler was on the turbo inlet to help secure the intake filter in place (3.5" inlet using a 4" filter). This was done due to the tight space and availability of intake filter selection. We had 6 people who worked on the car that sunday/monday (including david and his father-in-law) when we find the coolant leak on the stud kit. David and I made an agreement on the turbo suituation and the new turbo is on its way by tuesday.

As per the electrical issues, we found a few pins that were corroded in the engine harness. The only time that the car was exposed to any water was back in Decemeber when the engine bay was detailed and painted. As for the headlight flickering, it was caused by rusted relays in the relay box.

Glad the masters was fun, cannot believe the turbo story. I dont even want to know. You will 100% not get bored with a GT42R with a T4 flange. Contact me if you need any help.

Well, the compressor wheel is bigger than the GT42 but smaller than the GT45 and still retain similar size snell as your current turbo with a 4" inlet.

I just finished reading all 89 pages of this thread, off and on over a week period. David you seriously have the patience of Job when all the weight of the world was on his shoulders. I swear that your car has been cursed, as you seem to have no end of frustration and failure. I hope that success will smile down on you shortly.

You have no clue as to the extent of my patience and "the curse".

What I mean by the above post: Just wanted to let all of you know Gotham Racing was robbed last week. Here are the details:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=gotham

Maybe as a community we can all be on the look out for the missing inventory and nail the bastards.

As for my car, fortunately my new turbo didn't show up until this week. They did steal my Haltech E11, cut my wiring harness, and curiously, stole my Tial 50mm blow off valve. Instead of waiting on insurance, I've ordered replacement parts so the car can get finished next week. I'll battle it out later with the insurance guys.

Dave,

I am so sorry to hear this. I don't believe in curses, but your project is beginning to seem like that episode on "The Brady Bunch" where they have bad luck following them ever since they picked-up that "taboo" tiki idol:
http://www.tikiroom.com/tikicentral/...=1&vpost=39086

Perhaps the gods don't want a 20B in there or worse . . .

Good luck!

So does this mean all the tuning maps are lost and will have to be re-created?

I didn't ask but I don't think so. They store these on their laptops and I don't think these were stolen.

Yep, Steve was kind enough to also send me my map for my own backup purposes.

It's such a small but essential file, that I have on my google account as well.

I never use this phrase to identify my project anymore.

I can't wait to see this car again. You guys will have to come back to Atlanta for Steve to tune it for the 11tybillionth time .

This project has gotten out of control. My sympathies go out to David.

This is probably the single greatest example of bad luck and in a lot of cases incompetance by those were in charge of the build.

Sheesh, I hope it all works out for you, love to see it running, maybe a video or two.

Will post up some videos when it is done. The new turbo arrived last week. The replacement Haltech, wiring harness, and blow off valve are due this week. FYI, my experience with Progressive to date has been very positive. I contacted them when I heard Gotham's Nationwide policy might not cover the car and they've been very quick to pay. I'm going to let them battle it out with Nationwide while the car gets repaired and finished.

Break-ins are up here in MD too. My apartment complex has had four car break-ins and an apt break in in the last month.

Word to the wise, keep your stuff locked down.

Update: Gotham is finishing up the car. Alex and Don were working on the turbo reinstall last night. They had to cut off and replace the old flange as it wasn't a T4 or a T6. George has done some prep work but the Haltech and wiring harness hasn't shown up yet. It was due last Thursday and Stage 6 Motorsports here in Jacksonville is tracking it down.

That's it for now.

David,

I started reading your thread today, only taking a dinner break, and finally finished reading the entire thread this evening. First of all I'm very sorry about all your heartache during this grueling time while your FD has been violated by all these different shops and the fact that things continue to go wrong with your build.

Wow I'm amazed at your patience during the past five years or so, I for one would have scrapped the project after the first $50K.

Your story is like a soap opera unfortunately, I got sucked into it and cannot wait to hear the latest progress, positive I hope!

After all this time and expense are you sure these guys are not taking you for a ride?

This build is now classified as a money pit. I feel for you and hope this nightmare will be over soon for you and you'll be back on the road. I look forward to your next post. Good luck to you man!

mike

Yes, I feel most have probably tuned out at this point because it seems to have become an over-drawn soap opera; like a great movie with many bad sequels. With so many set-backs and mishaps, even with the completion, I don't think it's going to be a monumental event, but more of a relief this rebuild (re-rebuild) has come to a close.
