^No big updates yet. Waiting on the Haltech EMS to come back from inspection. Would think it would be this week. George has been busy tracing my entire electrical system to ensure everything is in working order.

I think I've worn out the edge of my seat waiting

David, is there still an active Florida list? The last one imploded in a rather ugly fashion. If there is an active Florida list, shoot me the details!

Haltech to return from inspection? When was it sent off? What happened to it? Man, you need a few rays of sunlight to zap all those gremlins lurking about your car... "Bright light, bright light!"

Saw your car at Gotham today sitting there patiently. Looks real nice, for what it's worth.

With the electrical issues we had, George thought it would be prudent to sent the Hatlech out for inspection to ensure nothing was wrong with it. It is due back today.

As your does too. What else have they done on your car? When I was there a few weeks ago, I could tell more had been done to it than the last time I was there. It will never be enough progress until it's done right?

Minor Update: George has completed the inspection and review of the wiring system. Had a headlight gremlin (headlights would randomly do the alarm "wave" pattern) that turned out to a corroded relay. Also, it appears the injector issue was caused by a wiring issue with my Jacobs Accuvolt unit. George replaced all the wiring for this with upgraded stuff and it now appears to be working fine. Note the word "appears" - we won't know what's up until the Haltech is reinstalled. This should happen next week I hope. He also said he went through the entire wiring system, both engine and body, and everything check out. Should make for a much better dyno result this time.

Wow, I just found this thread today via a search for something else (so it started me at the beginning) and I can't believe it still hasn't ended! I was like, "oh, its a couple years old, should be a good story(which it is) with a good ending"....little did I know what I was getting myself into!

I envy your dedication to the project and will def. be keeping up on this thread. Good luck!

I'm glad they sent the Haltech back to be inspected. They have had a horrible run of quality control issues recently. I've even seen one catch on fire.

I would keep your eye on the MSD ignition gear as well as their QC is questionable. It's easy to chase your own tail when "new" equipment fails right out of the box or shortly there after. May be a good time to upgrade to something more reliable to avoid potential future setbacks while the car is out of state and in Gotham's hands.

I've got a set of the overpriced dedicated blaster coils for my LS-6 and I'm contemplating going back to stock because I don't trust them. My buddy Zach had the same coils on his car and 2 failed within a couple months of first use. He called MSD to resolve the issue and they left him high and dry. This might be good for drag racers, but not an ideal situation if you plan on driving the car around town fairly regularly. I did a bit of research into their CDI boxes as well and found a sufficient amount of poor reliability reviews that I ended up ponying up for a 500R which was significantly more expensive.

You've been through a lot already - just make sure the car doesn't leave with any weak links.

Yes, but nothing good. Gotham thought they had the electrical issue relating to the injectors fixed but they didn't. The theory was the wiring for my Jacobs Accuvolt unit which supplies a constant level of power to the Haltech EMS was causing the issue. I started thinking about this - if the unit is malfunctioning (can't maintain the proper voltage) it starts to beep. We didn't hear this during the dyno runs so I was pretty convinced the unit was not the culprit. Unfortunately this was confirmed by George when they reinstalled the Haltech and put the car back on the dyno - still has the injector issue.

This was the news on Thursday. A related (or maybe not) electrical issue is the dash lights flicker. George is busy tracing all of the wiring and was deep into the sub-harnesses (dash and transmission) the last we spoke. I think he said he swapped out my CPU number 1 and this wasn't the problem but I'm not much of an electrical wiring guy so maybe he said something else. Bottom line - something happened during pulling the engine out and reinstalling it and they haven't figured it out yet. I'm sure they will, just hope it's sooner than later.

jjshaloam went by Gotham a week or so ago to check out the progress on his 3 rotor. He says my car looks good for what that's worth as it patiently waits completion

Maybe George will read this and post up the current status as of today.

Wow David. Sorry to hear that news. With all the time spent in labor, it might have been faster and cheaper to just replace the wiring in the entire car. Hope they find that gremlin soon and smash the little bitch!

On a positive note, get psyched. The Masters is only a week away. Can't wait for you to post a few pics of the tourney!

I always tell my granddaughter, "patience my dear... good things come to those who wait." Hopefully the same holds true for you!

The labor for tracking down the wiring gremlin is being done on their nickel, not mine. I had wondered about just replacing the harnesses but don't know how much this would cost. I already have a new engine harness. I know the FD has a bunch of sub-harnesses but have no idea how much each one is. Anyone have any advice here?

Regarding the Masters, I'm going to plot out the trip next week. Will get the driving directions, and each day's game plan together. As we're all huge Tiger fans, we'll probably end up being a few of the thousands following him. I've been told to bring a chair and get there first thing in the morning to stake out a spot for the day. Am thinking about the 18th hole or somewhere on Amen Corner

Yea, I'd probably stake out a spot near 11 green and 12 tee box. Have fun, and post regularly for those of us who are jealously living through your experiences

The main harness is like 1500 bucks I think. I would definitely check the MSD equipment and voltage regulation system as well even though they're new.

When I was working on military jets, we used to get bad new parts in from the factory occasionally, And that's with the strictest of quality control systems in place. Heck I remember one time we chased our own tails for almost 3 weeks to come to find out that we were supplied three defective replacement YIG oscillator assemblies in a row.

I don't see how it could be your main harness since you are the sole vehicle owner and would likely know if and where the harness had been modified or damaged. Have they given you a more in-depth description of the failure?

Nope. I only know the basic details. I'll speak with George tomorrow and post up more details. Maybe someone here has run across the same problem. As you point out, I doubt it's the main harness.

Wow David, I've been off the forum for 8 months...and your car is still not done? I feel for you. I haven't driven mine in 1.5 years now....although it is now sitting with all new fresh paint. Still only 3k on my rebuild from a few years back...
