Kilo Racing 3 Rotor FD Conversion
David, Congrats! I'm glad it's running so well! Looks great too!!
I wanted to get up a few shots of the Rotary Extreme hood dampers for you. They work great and the quality is excellent. Bought these about 4 years ago and had Jesus finally put them on the car. The fitment is excellent and they do not bulge the hood at all.
I know Ramy wanted to copy the design of the bracket but did I hear Chuck and RE are back in business?

And yes, I am removing the OEM hood prop so no comments about it still being installed!

David -
Congrats. You deserve it. Thank you for teaching all of us not to whine about our problems. Thank you also for showing people the difficulty of creating a piece of art that will be around for years to come. Look forward so seeing it sometime.
Best,
Joe

Thanks for the comments guys. I was down again this week to check in on the progress. The car looks good, runs well, and is close to coming home! On the good news side, the turbo does not have an oil leak. Jesus traced the oil in the heat blanket down to a leak from one of the Gotham oil cooler lines. The oil was blowing back into the turbo and some got into the bottom of the turbo blanket. I drove the car for about 40 minutes while I was there an no oil smoke after the drive. The turbo was also clean so that's a potential delay off the list.
I got a chance to romp on it a little more this time and did find some holes in the map under throttle. Jesus says not to worry as he has concentrated on the drivability/cruise aspects of the map and will now dial in the throttle/performance aspects. Regardless, even with about 1/3 throttle and with the holes, the car is very very quick. Should be a fun ride soon.
More to come...

David, that's outstanding news! We all look forward to you taking the car home soon!!
Best regards!

Mentioned DGRR to Jesus and he said he'd like to attend so we've tentatively talked about meeting up at I-75 and I-10 in FL and driving up together. I like this as I would have my mechanic with me in case something happens
Too lean in some spots causing a hesitation. Jesus tuned the car for street drivability and hadn't done the performance side yet. This will be done soon or already has been. Waiting on the call from Jesus.
Jesus called me last night and indicated he'll be done with the car no later than next Tuesday. He's fixed the holes in the map I found and has to button up a few punch list items. The only one that could slow the progress down is the AC system which wasn't working when I brought the car in. Jesus found a cut wire to the condenser so if that is it, it will be easy.
David, I would not worry about a thing, I truly believe you are in good hands, Jesus knows what he's doing and you can always count on him to come through!

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm heading down the minute Jesus says to come down. My guess is next Tuesday or Thursday but we'll see.
Regarding the most expensive RX7 ever, maybe. I have over $100K into it
Would have bought an nice used Porsche GT3 or Audi R8.

David, I don't think you would have been happy with a Porsche, maybe the Audi R8.
I've had three Porsche 911s, my last one was a 2002 Carrera Cab, and that was it for me, never again. The cost of parts was sick, take the most expensive FD part and multiply by four and maybe you can buy a cheap Porsche part. The Porsche quality is over-rated, Porsche engine failures are very common for normal every day driving conditions. Unfortunately the water cooled Porsche engines are not as reliable as the air cooled ones used to be. I know I used to work for Porsche. You are better off with your FD and 600HP!!!!

I can't wait to see an updated video in comparison to the one I made back in '07!
And no one is blaming you for putting that kind of money in your car. It's just sad that it took this long for you to find a shop that had your best interests in mind.

I hope it will compare favorably to that one from 07. It was fun though right?
