Kilo Racing 3 Rotor FD Conversion
I think it's about time to close this sucker down and start a new thread: "David Hayes' Three Rotor Beast On The Road", with a few hairy burnout shots on p. 1
look forward to seeing you in Asheville soon, David

David,
My jaw dropped when I read that Jesus Padilla is working on your car. The man is a god with FBs. I've always dreamt of doing wheel stands in an FB just like his drag car...
I'm certainly happy to see progress!!

Update
After much prodding by fellow members to post and against the advice from one of the "wise ones" on the forum, I'm posting an update - it's going well!
Went down this week to Kilo Racing to hang out with Jesus Padilla and the car. I am very impressed with Jesus and with what he has done in such a short amount of time. The car has never looked better nor driven as well as it did. For those of you in Florida, I would heavily recommend him to you. He is of the highest caliber and his work is outstanding. Call him! - 407.438.5467
Although I gave him very short notice, Jesus had the car ready to go. He's done some street tuning and a few short (up to 6,000 or so RPMs) runs on the dyno. The car idles great and runs without any flaws. After staring at the engine and his work for some time, Jesus flipped the keys to me and said to take it out for a spin. Who am I to upset him? Went out for about 30 minutes with my father-in-law and we had a blast. I'm getting pretty good at finding holes in EMS maps now after all my experience but I couldn't find any with Jesus' work. The car drove smoothly, revved freely and didn't smoke. In the past I would get out of the car and smell like fuel and oil but not anymore. Throttle response was crisp and the car really flies. If you know Orlando then you'll know you can't go very fast on South Orange Blossom Trail, but I did manage to get to about 50% throttle. Unfortunately I had to shut it down just as the turbo began to really kick in but it is obvious to us the attention to detail Jesus has put into the project. Also caught the attention of a few of Orlando's finest police officers so I had to watch out. Turned down the Honda kid that wanted to race
So, I am about at the end of this 20B endurance race. Sat down with Jesus to go over the final punch list. Most items are small fit and finish things (polishing/powder coating the alternator, a few broken plastic pieces, etc.) with the exception of one potential turbo item. We noted oil smoke coming out of the hot side of the turbo so Jesus has to track this down. Could be a coupler (probably not) or an oil gasket or something else. The turbo is still under warranty but it would set us back a few weeks if we have to send it back to Precision Turbo. We'll see. Once completed, I am going back to Orlando for the final test drive and dyno session (yes, we'll keep the boost low).

Some pics for you. The engine. FYI - the boost controller is just on its way back from Greddy so it is not installed. Do not be concerned with the unconnected rubber hoses for it.

Pics of the Exterior
A few shots of the exterior. Once everything is done, I will have the car detailed, including the engine bay.

Yes, I am having the vents repainted flat black.

More Random Shots
My crazy father-in-law and friend. Remember the father-in-law? The one that just about took out the car in Dallas during the snow storm?

Jesus checking the tune:

Father-in-law looks on as Jesus and I discuss...something.

Rotary Extreme Hood Dampers
I wanted to get up a few shots of the Rotary Extreme hood dampers for you. They work great and the quality is excellent. Bought these about 4 years ago and had Jesus finally put them on the car. The fitment is excellent and they do not bulge the hood at all.
I know Ramy wanted to copy the design of the bracket but did I hear Chuck and RE are back in business?

And yes, I am removing the OEM hood prop so no comments about it still being installed!

His work is outstanding and he's a great guy. Couldn't be happier with the progress of the job and the quality of what he is doing. I am fortunate to have found him. He's such a low key guy too. Very humble.
I'm sure the beast is quite a bit different now than the last time I saw it! If I ever finish the FB, I'm sending my FD chassis to Jesus! And asking him to build me a 20b...
I have a filter for the turbo so no need to worry there. Also, the exhaust system is being heat wrapped.
David... Com'on now. I just wanted you to wait until you were sure it was good to go. It seems like its right there, my friend. I was so comfortable with Jesus, but knew he would be fixing others' problems, which can sometimes be difficult and frustrating. No need to worry your fans until Jesus got it sorted out.
It really looks -- and sounds -- good. Its really clean up and show it off time. Oh... and get to actually drive it.

ok little buddy! I hope you and the skipper have a good trip back. Not a 3 hr tour I hope! perhaps you should rename your car the "minnow".
...sorry, couldn't resist. The car looks great by the way. Best wishes.
My father-in-law would hate the reference though. Don't think the other person in the pic, my friend Mark, would like it either.Too too funny...
Took a while to read through the whole thread but it was well worth it amazing car.
Have to give you cred for just being able to keep you sanity all this year with all the problems you hade with the car caused by the shops involved in this project, and also all those time being so close just to stumble before the finish line.
If this was me, i would be locked up in a mental hospital a long time ago.
Hope this saga ends with a happy ending.
Cheers
