Dliverance street/autox build
you dont have to make custom plug wires... if you use fc plug wires, theyre like 8ft long each. i have a set that i'm saving for when i decide where i wanna relocate my coil packs. its a cheap and easy solution....
if your worried about them getting wet where ever you put them, im sure you could make a little splash shield for them. just have all the coil packs facing up.
if i put mine anywhere, its probably going to be in the cabin where the engine harness comes through. i dont have anything behind my dash at all so its just a bunch of space. all of the ac system has been removed. heater and all....

sure did. wait til later when I get the rest on there.
Crap. I just realized the leading coil might be a different size.
Here's the pics I promised. I found my leading coil pack was severely corroded and it broke when I removed the wire.

Looks like a perfect fit. I'm going to fasten the bracket to the car with riv nuts. Woohoo
So I found a really good deal on a pfc and I had to jump on it. I also ordered a pineapple racing omp block off plate with omp injector plugs.
With the Ecu on order the last bits I need to get are an aluminum radiator, some gauges, powerflex steering rack bushings, and a few misc fuel components like a filter and a fitting or two.
If all goes well I should have the car started in late August early September.

Ah. I just made a deal with Tem120 for his.
Thanks for the compliments everyone. I've been making good progress lately but I'm going to take a few weeks and focus on some other things. Should be back at it again soon though. In the down time I'm going to be working on it but spending on parts is going to have to stop for a little while. Major spending anyway.

Hey Dliverance. Thanks for looking into my build thread. I see your project is coming along pretty nice. Mine is moving kind of slow at the moment because I'm on leave, but I'll get it there eventually. Looking forward to see what you put up next.
Thanks. My build is moving kind of slow at the moment too. I swapped out the daily driver and I have to pay the new car off. Not a whole lot but I'd like to have it paid off before I start working on the fd again. Here's a pic.

It's a 96 Miata with fresh paint, interior, top, tein flex coilovers, hard dog roll bar, and a few more goodies.
The steering rack bushings I ordered from powerflex are on back order for three weeks and that's really holding up my build. Right now all the fd needs is a new radiator, wideband, boost gauge, boost controller and fluids. I should have the car started hopefully in October.

I've been spending some time taking care of the small loose ends. I cleaned, blasted and painted some small parts, ordered super pro rack bushings since powerflex had them on back order, I welded the flange on for my wastegate, and did some more rewiring on the drivers side harness for the coil packs.
Rack mounts before

After with some other parts like the alternator bracket and sway bar mounts.

OMP delete kits I ordered for myself and two friends

Wastegate in

Next purchase will be an aluminum radiator and all of my gauges.
I plan on running the innovate lc-1 and digital boost and oil pressure gauges for now. I'll be adding the EGT, coolant temp and oil temp later. the first three will go on top of the dash and the second set will go in a single din radio pod later on.
Here's a pic of the same gauges when I ran them in my Miata

Update.
I received the bushings for the steering rack and got it installed with the megan tie rod ends. I also ordered a koyo n flow from Fritzflynn along with a megan 3" stainless mid pipe so I can delete the stock cat.
If I have some free time I'll start putting her together this weekend.

And my fuel because ....'MERICA

Well this weekend was quite a crappy one. I made a lot of progress in installing the koyo radiator, starter/alternator/coil harness, ac compressor and ac lines. Everything was going smooth until I made it to the exhaust manifold. Somehow I managed to snap one of the four studs. I tried welding a nut to it and broke it even more...twice. I tried vice grips and a small pipe wrench and neither worked. I the end I gave up and just pulled the motor. Right now it's with a builder and he's going to drill it out and rebuild the motor.
While the motor is out I'm going spray the bay and clean up some more wiring. I swear, every time I take a step forward with this car I end up having to take three steps backwards. At least now I will know that the motor is rock solid.
I also have a three puck sprung clutch that will be going in so woohoo bite.
Here's a shot of the engine out of the car. Still a bit dirty but not nearly as bad as it was 6 months ago.

Yeah I'm not putting cash on top. I actually have a 93 bumper hanging up in my garage but it was slightly modified for an intercooler. Nothin major but I know it's there.
If I don't get the offer I want I'll just keep the bumper.
As for the oem spec 99 or the corksport, I'd get one but finances are tight right now. I'm working 15 hours of overtime just to get the engine rebuilt. Maybe tax time.

I hear you on fiberglass man. Those wouldn't last long at auto cross if some how ran in to a cone.
