Tuned By Shawn - Remote or Onsite Tuning Serivces
Hi Everyone,
Tuned By Shawn is a new company offering paid services for Adaptronic Modular ECUs. We have been involved with the Adaptronic Modular ECU since the beginning development of the engine management platform. We got the privilege to give our input/suggestions on certain aspects of the ecu platform. We continue to master all aspects of the Adaptronic Engine Management to provide the best support and value to our paid services.
A little bit about myself - Shawn Christenson - Coming from a technical back ground working for a telephone company as a Senior Repair Adviser for 7 years I have transitioned into the automotive world fairly easy. I have found many aspects relating to troubleshooting problems are handled in the exact same way. I truly enjoy helping customers and providing the best possible customer experience possible. I have also been a long time member on this forum - shawnm565 - which this forum was where I started learning about Mazda Rx7's many years ago!
Here are some of the things that Tuned By Shawn has to offer -
Website - www.tunedbyshawn.com
Adaptronic Engine Management Dealer - https://www.tunedbyshawn.com/collections/mazda-ecus - Universal ECUs (Wire-In Units) - https://www.tunedbyshawn.com/collections/wire-in-ecus
Remote Tuning services - https://www.tunedbyshawn.com/collect...uning-services (I will go more into the explanation of this process later in the post.)
Aftermarket parts - Injector Dynamics, Radium Engineering, Speedflow Fuel Fittings, Walbro Fuel Pumps, Bosch Injectors, Borgwarner Turbochargers. (Almost anything that you may need for your build) These products are currently on request as I do not have all of them listed on the website.
Remote Tuning -
Some of you may be wondering about how the remote tuning process works and I will explain in depth how this process works-
1. Planning - If you are interested in getting your car tuned by me or build advice to get your car running I have a good amount of information to make this process go easily and successful. Please reach out to me and I will be happy to help you plan for getting your car started for the first time! We do require for remote tuning at a minimum a wideband integrated into the ECU via serial or internal and a fuel pressure sensor connected to the ecu.
2. Tools and tips for starting the tuning process - I have created a FAQ page on my website to help facilitate getting you and your PC ready for the remote tuning process - https://www.tunedbyshawn.com/pages/faq - I use TeamViewer to remote into your PC during parts of the tuning process ( I pay for this service and its free for you to use!), I also use google drive to share the large log files that are created during the tuning process. (google drive is a free service as well)
3. Verification - it is important you make sure everything is installed and ready to go before any of the tuning process is started. I find that individuals are very excited when they get close and not having everything ready to go actually causes more of a delay or wasted time / money. Also one key bit of advice before purchasing anything in general it is HIGHLY advised to get a compression test prior to the tuning process this will allow you to put your money where its needed.
4. Adaptronic First start assistance - This service is an hourly based service $65.00 per hour - When this product is purchased is when you are finally ready to start your car for the first time. I will remote into your PC using TeamViewer application and together we will setup your basemap, verify every sensor is working (note if we do find a sensor is not working generally the session is ended but your time is not wasted we start right back off where we left once the sensor is confirmed working), Check Fuel pressure, Confirm base timing, Check all 4 coils to make sure the L1, T1, L2, T2 are firing in the correct locations, setup the VE table for the car idling warm. Setting all the Safety features: Rev limit, Overboost, Fuel pressure drop, AFR Protection, EGT protection - Once we have completed this first hour which on average is all is needed for the car to be ready for its first maiden voyage!
5. Full Power Tunes - This services Ranges from $500.00 to $750.00 - This process does not start until the car is able to be started and driven for the first time - How this service works is in multiple stages - For the first drive I will have you start a log (Which is fully explained on my FAQ page) and drive your car essentially around the block with very light throttle. We try to keep the distance to a minimum just in case any issues may arise. You will email me that log - I will make changes to the ECU file and send you a new file that you will load onto the ECU (Which is fully explained on my FAQ page). The next file unless there was some major issues that need to be resolved will be a much longer 1+ hour log of you driving only in Vacuum (NO BOOST) - We will also set the rev limiter to what your engine builder wants for engines that need to be broken in. If you do not have a fresh engine we will just set the rev limit based on what has been done with the engine. (One really nice thing about this service is after 3-4 files on average the car will be ready to be drive for X amount of miles for your engine break in and then after you are finished we continue the process of tuning the car) Once the vacuum tuning is done 3-6 files on average we start getting into boost - This process is does rely on you to be able to follow the commands I give you to the T in order to make this process to go as safe as possible and so that that I can get good data. These logs are very short logs kind of like a dyno run - Here is an example of a log you will start your log and go from 2000rpms to rev limit at zero PSI - Once you hit rev limit you will stop the log and send me the file - If any safety cuts happen you will abort the run and send me the file so I can see what needs to be addressed. We do this process until wastegate pressure is reached. This can take 6-15 files on average. During that process we are making sure everything is functioning on the car and fix anything that may be found not working correctly - Most commonly individuals have a fuel system issue that needs to be resolved before the tuning process can be finished.
This service covers 30 tune files OR up to 6 hours on the dyno - Most individuals do a combination of both for the best results
6. Dyno Tuning - This can be done remotely or in person if you would like to fly me out - How the remote service works is I will remote into your PC via the TeamViewer application and communicate via text or voice chat depending on what is available. I will work with the dyno operator to get your car tuned for maximum power on the dyno. (This is by far the best way to get the best results for full power)
7. Onsite tuning - if you wish to have me tune your car in person I have access to a dyno facility here in Minnesota the rate is $95.00 per hour + my tuning services fees. Also if you wish to fly me out it is all expenses paid - travel, lodging, food + the tuning services - I also can come days prior to help finish up the car which would be an hourly rate based on what we are working on.

So I totally read this as "Tuned by Shane" and just saw the matching/similar text script and logo. I was about to **** myself if Shane T was suddenly catering to our tiny community!
Good stuff! It's great to see new companies popping up to support the rotary community and provide services with modern hardware and electronics

Fair enough, I've stepped away from the 7 game for the last 7 years to focus on my family and career so I've missed out on a lot. I'm just beginning to shift my focus back now that I'll be getting my FD on the road again

Shawn has been providing services for my race cars for 3 years here in Minnesota. Ranging from technical assistants, parts, remote tuning, dyno tuning, on road diagnostics, in garage diagnostics and comes to a lot of my track events for services as well. I have come to consider him a huge part of my racing obsession and has made my cars what they are today.
I run the evo8 modular in my second gen. eclipse gsx, that car right now is 750 hp awd on 35lbs of boost. Shawn has set this car up with electronic boost, electronic fuel pressure, ethanol sensor, Igna1 coils in collaboration with ohm racing wiring. Car use to be run on a flashable ecu program called dsm link but it had no failsafes like the modular and the transformation has been great so far. This car was dyno tuned by Shawn in the twin cities.
My Fd is ran on the adaptronic m1200 and originally was set up with a adaptronic 440 back in the day. Shawn came to my garage and re-arranged the pins and such for me to make sure it worked properly since I was apprehensive. The Fd is running on a efr7670 TurboSource kit and around 24lbs of boost. This car was wired with a harness from Chris Ludwig that we have altered a bit over time for things like electronic fuel, pressure, electronic oil temp, electronic coolant, ethanol sensor. This car runs extremely well and Is competitive in su classing on road coarse and autocross. It was tuned on gas first then ethanol and I used the remote tuning service on the ethanol tune. I am extremely old school and don’t use the internet a ton other then lurking forums for parts mainly. Because of this I was really hesitant but he talked me into it and it was so easy! Still laugh how nervous I was to do the remote thing for the first time and he made it a great experience. It was really nice in a sense that it does not ruin a dyno when you have issues and you have days to fix them and not minutes paying by the hour stuff. Especially when it’s a 3 hr drive to the dyno.
Both cars are products of his dedication! He has always is taking time to explain the different ways we can make the cars more solid and reliable. His tuning ability is awesome, he is able to translate all of my input/issue and figure out how to make my car work properly. We have troubleshot so many issues over the past 3 years and every time we figure them out together. He really understands how the ecus work and how to make cars run perfect. I highly recommend his services and glad to call him my friend/teammate!!!!

Shawn is absolutely amazing!!! He’s been tuning my car for a bit now and has made it run awesome. I’ve never felt a better throttle response than what’s he has set up on my fd. Unfortunately the last time on the dyno my fd decided it couldn’t handle any more and popped. Shawn felt horrible and decided to fly out to Utah and help me pull the motor and diagnose what went wrong. Fortunately for him it had nothing to do with the tune!! On top of all this, he is constantly answering any questions I have and doesn’t seem the slight bit annoyed. Not only has he made a customer for life but also a friend.

We are living in the future! Modern technology and remote tuning.
I recommend Shawn to everyone in the rotary community and even people with other platforms that I meet.
I have known him for several years now and have been impressed by him again and again. His troubleshooting abilities are like no one I have ever met before. He knows these cars and he is quick.
After how much time and money I have put into my car I was very nervous about the tuning. Shawn explained how everything works, set me up with all the sensors I needed for every failsafe option in the Ecu, and did a professional job wiring them in.
I drove the car while logging, sent him the files, he made some adjustments and sent it back and it has been boost city ever since.
I drive it daily and have driven the car to and from several track days including last Friday and this coming Sunday. No issues.
Shawn is there for his people. Screenshot of our messages attached.
Efr on pump fuel set up for flex fuel. Planning to run ethanol and higher boost soon.

I've had a few of Shawn's maps land in my lap over the past months and haven't been impressed. We all have our own learning curves though.
That being said, I wasn't impressed with stuff from Omar, Abel, DK, or Vargas. Hopefully if Shawn puts in the effort it'll become something good. Currently, I don't see it as such. Time will tell.
One scary thing that everyone should realize is that this service is only being covered on Adaptronic. The way that anyone should evaluate their business is by knowing and fully understanding the competition. Not sure what your views on the product are (the software, we know has bugs and fake MAP sensor math), but I consider it a low-tier item alongside ProEFI (the worst of the worst) and PowerFC (just dated with zero protections).
Either way, there are plenty of other options out there for people who are passionate, help every day on forums and Facebook pages, and help troubleshoot cars around the world.

Timing increase did not increase the hp enough to validate an increase nor did leaning it out any more. This is a mustang dyno so roughly 260 on a Dynojet which is relatively on par for the modifications of this car. IATs would go from 90 to 140 in 1 pull def needs an upgraded intercooler.
