I got a 3' catback Apexi Dunk and it sounds pretty good. A deep loud tone to it at idle to wot. Just my opinion, there's others that sound good too but i also liked the way it looked on my FD. It is a bit too loud but who cares, my old civic w/cheap Mini-super dragger knock-off was louder than my rex so i'm use to it.

I am going to try to get a recording this weekend...see if I can hitch up a mic and laptop. I have the Apex GT, which seems to be the best of the worst...he he.

I would recommend the racing beat dual I think its the quietest cat out right now and its less expensive than the m2 but not as aggressive looking.

The power extreme will quiet it down quite a bit but the exhaust note does sound kinda ricey. Very fart canish.

Yeah. A lot of the mufflers available for our cars sound too TINY.

pretty much any cannister (fart can) exhaust system will be loud, and IMO, sounds like ***.

the M2 is a nice unit, along with the Racing Beat exhuast systems. and both very high quality units, unlike some Apex exhust systems that i have seen (N1/N1 Dual) which look terrible after some time.

there is no evidence with dyno charts or testimonials from different people that have tried both that proves that the straight through cannister exhaust systems flow significantly more than the traditional muffler units. im guessing cannisters flow more, but that that much more. Cam runs a Racing Beat Dual Tip (actually Pettit, but both are the same exact exhaust systems. same part #s) on his 20B Banzai, so that should tell you enough about the flow capabilities.

IMO, go with an M2 or RB exhaust system.

just my .02

good luck!

I dont understand, is this poll (dp, mp, cb) combinations only or (dp+cb),(stock+cb)too. another thing is, why is the PFS getting so many votes, im all stock besides the PFS cb, and its alittle raspy during cold starts but when warm i think it sounds good, but i have also never heard another FD with exhaust so i cold be missing out. I was wondering what is the standard for a good/bad sounding exhaust, is it just personal taste or is there one exhaust that everone agrees on as sounding good. If there is an exhaust that everyone agrees on, what is it? I am planing to go dp>stock cat>cb on my FD, what would be a deep(NOT RASPY, raspy meaning a deep go-kart sound), not to loud(not to much louder than stock)system? Dru

I think that's the N1 in that video. I heard an N1 recently that sounded similar to that. The GT-Spec has a lower rumble to it at idle and lower RPM's. It's definetaly one of the loudest, but sounds great, IMO. If anyone in the Bay Area wants to hear it or record it, let me know.

I'm surprised that so many people "outside of my apt. complex" hate the N1 Dual... I think it sounds pretty badass (if your motor isn't ported) I was damn happy with it since I like the attention... but now that my w-gate is open air there is too much waaaaaaa noise when running someone. I think the vid is still on www.dallasracing.com site under the "R"s in the media/video section. There is a vid of me beating a Mecham T/A and a Talon. The name of the vid isRx7 vs. Talon vs. T/A. In case you guys want tuo hear it on my ride when it was running straight exhaust... Now though as my friend said my car sounds like the "loudest f_cking weed wacker on the planet"... I thought it sounds like a huey flying low over my head.

P.S. Anyone want to trade me cat-backs???

What are you talking about looks like ****? Mines been on since feb-march of last year and still clean as a whistle. Maybe the one you saw wasn't taken care of or somthing like that...

The Acura launched first

I think it was the Acura that sounded like bumble bee farts in that video. The RX-7 sounded like "womp, womp, womp". The other video with the GT sounded distinctive, as a rotary should be. I want my car to sound different, just as the looks when people say: "what is that"? There is no way to tell how loud they are from those videos though. Plus, you may like a CB with a CAT' but hate it with a MP. I want to hear the JC Magic. I think one of those get to gethers is a good chance to decide what you like.

STOCK SUCKS THE MOST! Man, don't understand all this N1 Dual bashing. If you want a nice quite car, IMHO, buy something nice and quite. I have the N1 Dual and it's loud. Ivan said he thought it was louder then his GT. I think mine sounds great (esp under overpasses). It's sure not quite! Whatever makes you happy (or in the case of this poll, UN-happy).

IMO, sound dB level has nothing to do with weather or not i think it sounds good or bad. i have heard many obnoxiously loud exhaust systems on cars, yet still sounded good.

its all about the tone, resonance, and raspiness that makes or breaks the sound of an exhaust system...not volume.

I love my apex dual. I run it with an HKS downpipe and stock middle. It sounds good on my car all the while not sounding like a honda or anything else. Its sound is unique, as is the car, and is only loud when I really get into it. Sure it may be a little harsh, but that just gives my fine state of tune a little edge. I'm completeley satisfied. Anyway, back to the subject. The worst sounding cat back is any one system that sounds like those you see on a hopped up honda. With all due respect to them, some are hellatious machines, but they always seem to sound just like the geeks you see, driving around with nothing but a coffee can hanging off the *** making a bunch of noise.

where is everyone goin off saying that the sound of a Honda is bad?? (i have said this before also. i kinow....hypocritical, but i just gave it some thought). honestly, i would want my RX-7 to sound like a Honda. have you guys ever heard an Integra GSR, Integra Type R, S2000, NSX, Prelude SH...all with quality exhaust systems (i.e Mugen)?? i personally think they sound BADASS! my good friend has an ITR with AEM intake, JDM ITR header, and Mugen exhaust. i personally think that is one of the nicest/best sounding machines i have ever heard in person short of any Ferrari or McLeran F1. another good friend has a supercharged Integra GSR. he has all the mods plus Apex N1 exhaust, and that sounds awsome too. same applies to all the S2000s, NSXs, and Preludes i have heard. (listen to an NSX with a GRuppe M exhaust system, then tell me Hondas sound bad).

BTW, almost all FDs i have heard both in person and in videos sound like **** compared to the sound of an S2000, NSX, or ITR...IMO. so when you guys say "sounds like a Honda"...is that a compliment??

just my .02. sorry for the rant.
