Will a leaking water pump gasket cause this?

-Coolant Level Sensor to beep.
-Coolant spraying out of hole rapidly
-Rapid increase in engine/water temp
-Engine bogs when gas is pressed

I can see all the damn coolant spraying out, didn't get any hondabond on there when we put it back on, lol

Just want to make sure it would cause the following symptoms.

Thanks

can see coolant spraying out of where? If you can see water leaking then yes, you would get the add coolant beep, and you would also get high temps as the car will be running with less cooling potential than normal due to low water levels.

Engine bogs when gas pressed...hmmmm, not sure on that one, may be a different issue. Fix your coolant issue and see if it persists.

Oh, P.s that girl in your avatar is fine!

Haha, yeah it worked fine before, then the leak showed up and it started to run like asssssssss, it'll be done tomorrow, just wanted to make sure the high rising temp was a problem... i suppose the water pump was spraying the coolant out of the engine rather than in it, lol. I didn't let it get over 100 DegC so the engine internals will be fine.

Oh thanks, that's my woman =P I still got to get her to do those ice-cream pics, hahaha.. check my previous posts for that one.

Yeah, if the pump aint pushing the water round the engine the block will just be super heating. I suggest you dont run the car like this or youll warp your engine. Hope it gets sorted fer ya!

So yeah, you got any more pics of that sexy little number of yours? We'd all luuuuurve to see em! haha

An internet whoopin? hehe.

Whoa dude, she is awesome, too good for you anyways I think you should box her up and ship her over to my place, ill PM you my address

Only jokin man, you look good together...She's damn fine and your a lucky guy.

anyways, back on the topic - im curious as to where this water is spraying out from - around the gasket for the water pump (i.e right at the front of the engine behind the pulley?) did you use a gasket? I just did my water pump and it sealed up totally fine with no need for RTV or anything. I suggest if yours hasnt, you havent used the proper gasket or bolted it up tight enough.

This is true

=P

Umm... its leaking from the top of the housing. There was probably some old gasket on there and it didn't get scraped off... at least that is what I am assuming. I'll hondabond it and post the info tomorrow.

Thanks for the help bro.

if your gonna hondabond it, scrape both metal faces with a razor blade until they feel smooth to run your fingers across. If its leaking from the top of the housing it sounds like this is a gasket sealing problem - there is an extra part of the gasket there that often sticks and is diffuclt to remove and difficult to see.

good luck!

Are you sure it's not leaking from the hole right behind the pulley? It's apparently designed to do that when the bearing is shot. Mine did that right after I put in my new engine, I got a replacement from malloy and no more leak.

Friend said the gasket was leaking, I couldn't pinpoint it I just saw it leaking out of the top of the pump. My water pump worked great on my ride and I just pulled it off and put it on the new engine, so it should work fine to my knowledge.

It worked fine for a bit and then started leaking after i drove for a half block.

I figure the gasket just gave out, or didn't start leaking until pressure built up. Hope the pump isn't bad, I'll know for sure tomorrow morning.

Yeah, could be either. It's pretty easy to see the water flowing out of that hole if that is the culprit. It's right behind the pulley on the upper side of the housing. I think it only cost like 50 bucks for the replacement after the core return. Sounds like you've got it running now, what did the problem turn out to be?

yeah, check the hole in the top of the pump. Look at the water pump pulley youll see the hole. FYI, bearings go around 70k - if yours is of that mileage id replace it anyway while its off, its a cheap part.

Yea dude my bearings were shot, i got a new water pump from ray at malloy mazda in woodbridge VA he the bomb if i remember i think i got it for 60 or 70 bucks call him, back to my story i had the new pump next to the old one and i was spinning the wheel and the old one went clank clank and was very loose, the new was was solid and steady, and yes i had coolant seeping out of the bottom. the gasket was totally gone as well, white crap on the bottom everywere. hope this helps ohh yea it took me about 1 hr and 20 min to do it so its not that hard to change out, sure beats letting mazda screw up your car, if your going ot screw it up why not do it on your own lol

Yeah I am totally capable of doing it, but I've just worn myself out working on it. I just wanted a break so I took it in... lol. Just needed a couple days break and I'll be back on it, lol.

Ok, you know the spacer that you put on the studs to offset the water pump so it will sit even with the gasket.....? Well that was on there, but the gasket wasn't.

Took it off, hondabonded the crap, and everything sealed great. Car is running, all I need to do now is tune it... which is getting done tomorrow morning, w00t.

Thanks for the help

spark issue - trailing plug wires were crossed, and there was a wire pulled from one of my crank angle sensor connectors. Just stupid things, should have checked the trailing like you said, would have if i had more time. The CAS i wouldn't have been able to do though.
